Great value! I saved a lot of money buying this.
I'll give this 5 stars, because it's cheap, does the job, and should last a while if gently used. Inside the box are all the parts and detailed assembly instructions, which include photographs (that's a refreshing change). Out of all the parts, I had 2 small issues when putting it together. 1. One of the included screws had no head. Obviously, they are mass-produced. I replaced that screw with one of my own, no biggie, and it's not worth taking a star off for that. 2. When connecting the (green) bridge between the front and rear rest, the rear bolts would not thread. I thought I had a problem, but I switched the bridge around (180 degrees), now the front was the back, the back the front, and all 4 bolts fitted nicely. Bear that in mind. Don't force anything to fit; this isn't made out of metal, it's 100% plastic. Once assembled, I rested my rifle, and it was a good fit. I'm using this for air rifles, so it shouldn't be a problem with recoil. Given the quality of plastics used, I expect this to last a while. I would recommend this product. (As for the negative reviews, remember, this was under $40! You're saving a lot of money and this product still does it's job well).

Excellent for the price
It blows my mind people complain about a $25.00 shooting rest, but most can complain on a sunny day. It's plastic, it's cheap and ya it works. Fantastic for airguns but yes I would question it's reliability for any hard recoil use. However I kept my expectations realistic and that's just it, be realistic here it's not a lead sled, why would it be? Again bench shooting for airguns or rimfires it's a fantastic value and I cannot fathom spending more for that purpose.

Got to put it together with six screws supplied. Takes some time
The Caldwell steady rest NXT offers good quality at a small price. Worked great At shooting range. Was steady. Adjusted easily. Was easy to install the six screws to put it together yet I would have preferred it came already put together. Looks a bit flimsy but works nicely. The light weight is a big plus for me. I had to pad the underside bridge edges as they were sharp enough to possibly cut oneself when carrying it holding the bridge area. Rounded edges all around the bottom would eliminate the cutting self problem. Overall the rest is a good buy for me. Better than my sand bags and much easier to adjust. Don't abuse this rest and should serve one well for years. Happy shooting.

Decent for the price, but...
I was looking for an inexpensive shooting bench rest to sight in a new scope for my rifle. Considering how infrequently it would be used, I really didn't want to spend a lot of money. This rest fit the bill. It came unassembled, but assembly took about 5 minutes, with 5 screws and 4 thumb-tightened bolts (for the bridge connecting the front and rear rest). It functions as described, and I've used it with both pistols and rifles at this point.PROS:- Easily raise or lower the front rest (and lock at desired height)- Will not damage the finish of your firearm- Great price!CONS:- It's plastic, so it's light. Moves very easily, even with light-recoil weapons.- Rear rest is too low, in my opinion...although you could add a sandbag or padding- Rear rest also doesn't work well with some collapsible stocks- Bridge must be removed if using high-capacity magazines (i.e. AR-15 w/ 30-rnd mag)- With bridge removed, the stability of the front and rear rest is dramatically reduced- Have to fiddle with it to lay flat...tends to bow a bit in the middle. But my sight is now zeroed in, so it did it's job.

Light weight and stable
Easy to adjust for heights, my rifle fits well in it. I'll be using it for a .22 rifle. Used it today. Worked great.

Great value for occasional use
Great value for occasional shooting. It would not be something for someone shooting a lot as it is very light and I feel would probably be torn up easily with heavy use.

Its very light, it was cheap for me. It does what it is supposed to do.
I was looking for a cheap rifle rest. I didn't want to make a homemade model. I got mine for 21 dollars and change on Amazon. I checked the next day it was 34 dollars. The rest does what it is supposed to do for light home use. Definitely not made for heavy professional use.

Good for the Money But...
First of all, like other reviewers mentioned, I don't understand the terminology of "Filled" with this shooting rest. There is nothing filled here - just hollow plastic front and back. Assembly was somewhat challenging, especially with the Rear support captive nuts and thumb screws. The screws did NOT align properly with the captive nut threads and cross threaded to the point that I couldn't screw them in or out. They were stuck!!I ended up needing cut cut them off, remove the captive nuts and replacing them with new screws and wing nuts. After that modification, I took the rest to the shooting range and it worked pretty well.It was stable, didn't move when I shot the 9mm rifle, easily adjusted the front height and was an OK length. Understanding that this shooting rest is very inexpensive, it does the job.
