Import Blu-ray/Region All pressing. Five film series featuring Lieutenant Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) - a bad-tempered, right-wing San Francisco policeman, not averse to bending the rules to get his man. In the first film, 'Dirty Harry' (1971), the maniacal Scorpio Killer is on the loose and Callahan disregards procedure in his efforts to track him down, regularly using his trusty Magnum 44 to dispense his own brand of justice. The sequel, 'Magnum Force' (1973), sees a group of renegade San Francisco law enforcers using policing methods which even hardened Callahan considers to be beyond the pale. As drugs bosses, pimps and other street low-life drop like flies, Callahan is assigned to track down the loose cannon cops who have decided to take the law into their own hands. The follow-on, 'The Enforcer' (1976), finds Callahan unwillingly partnered with a female officer (Tyne Daly) when he is charged with tracking down a terrorist group made up of psychopathic hoodlums. 'Sudden Impact' (1983) sees Callahan overstepping the mark one more time, and he is sent 'on holiday' to a small Californian town where he soon antagonizes the local Chief of Police, triggers off a wave of murderous mayhem and becomes involved with a rape-revenge killer. Finally, 'The Dead Pool' (1988) finds Callahan the target of macabre interest when his name appears on an anonymous hit list. It's not that he minds being singled out by killers, it's just that he doesn't like appearing on a list which also features rock stars and TV celebrities.

looks great!
the set i got appears to be printed in Portuguese. but they play fine on American disc players and default to English on screen. the picture quality is beautifully preserved. you have to read the fine print at the bottom to tell which disc is which movie.

Its Dirty Harry
Before everything became politically correct, movies were funny and enjoyable. Dirty Harry series is no exception. It was great to watch them again. See how movies used to be made, when Hollywood wasn't so jammed up inside themselves. The special effects...believable and not so over done. Raw and powerful.Storylines are mostly good as well. And its Clint Eastwood. This showcases why he became the icon he is today.

Dirty Harry - An Often Forgotten Classic Series
When I was young I was not allowed to see Dirty Harry movies. First, they are violent, have nudity, and an irreverent disrespect for the law, or at least that was what the mood was like in the 1970s and 1980s when these were being made. But the iconic nature of these films should not be dismissed. The contentious relationship between a rules-averse cop and his irate, red-faced Lieutenant has been parodied and copied in countless films, including "So I Married An Axe Murderer" where Anthony LaPaglia is the cop who WANTS his Lieutenant to be brutal and mean, but Alan Arkin as the Lieutenant, a natural sweetheart, tries to accommodate LaPaglia, but fails - he's just not mean-natured. The wonderful Police Squad TV series parodied these films too, most notably in scenes where Frank Drebin crashes his car into trash barrels every time he pulls up to a curb. But this just speaks to how ingrained in our culture these films have become. They are excellent films in their own right, and show off San Francisco beautifully with panoramic shots of the city which actually are integral to the storytelling. The films are beautifully scored by Lalo Schifrin, (who also wrote the original theme to Mission: Impossible), with period music that fit the era, but never enters into the cheesy, even retrospectively. Beautiful. The stories are hard, and while they may seem cliche now, they were not then. They only appear to be cliche now because these films were so eagerly and frequently copied.Look for brief but notable cameos by Rob Reiner and Suzanne Summers, and also get a kick out of the fact that Albert Popwell plays different roles in 4 of the 5 films, and when he's encountered in the second film, Harry asks him "Where do I know you from?"I can't say enough about these films.

A must own in Clint Eastwood filmography!
It was great to have this complete collection of Dirty Harry and on Blu Ray. I had almost forgotten about these movies since they came out when I was just a young boy but had to check them all out since watching some of Clint’s more recent movies such as The Mule, Bloodwork, and Gran Torino which were excellent movies. Also check out High Plains Drifter, Outlaw Josie Wales as well as Clint’s Director credits such as Jersey Boys.
