Almost perfect, but with one fatal flaw
I loved everything about this bag. It is lightweight, the perfect size for fitting into a plane's overhead, and a blue color that would make it easily identifiable but isn't too loud. Unlike other duffels I've tried, it has a surface that is slick and won't attract lint or dirt, but also seems tough and waterproof. The price from Amazon was great. Even the logo is unobtrusive, a welcome contrast to other duffels which have it splashed across the entire side. However, the strap was a real problem for me. Not the strap itself: although it is puny and would probably dig into my shoulder as soon as the bag had some weight in it. However, I could easily replace that with something else. No, the problem is the attachment points, which are positioned oddly at a diagonal to each other on opposite sides of the bag. I should have understood this from other reviewers, but didn't pick up on it. It means, as far as I can figure out, that the Transporter isn't meant to hang from one's shoulder like a normal duffel, but to be slung over the back? I am still not sure, but regretfully have decided to return it, rather than start using it and find it was awkward to carry.I am very sad about this. I have looked at other options, such as the Osprey Porter, but didn't particularly like the colors it is produced in, or the weight in comparison to the Transporter. After calling Osprey, I believe they may be making a new version of this bag. However, it is not yet available as I write this (May 2014).

Great everyday duffel
Excellent bag that I use primarily for car trips . I have yet to use it while flying, I think if it is packed full it would be a little cumbersome on a plane . I love the grab handle on the top of the bag but I subtracted a star for the shoulder strap which is uncomfortable and is attached corner to corner . I love the opening of the bag and it is extremely light as are all Osprey products . I definitely recommend this duffel .

Good, but not great.
Don't get me wrong, I use this ALL the time, but it could be better designed.Fun little s*** around duffel, as you've probably heard, the strap is a little wonky. Thats true.I attached a climbing sling and a carabiner the the end handles so I can swing it over my shoulder in what i consider a better alternative to the strap.

You can't go wrong with Osprey
This is my second Osprey purchase (my first was a predecessor to the Farpoint 55 Travel Backpack). I had, and continue to have, such a positive experience with it that I chose Osprey for this bag for use on shorter trips. They really build their products to last, and they are highly usable and well thought out in their design. Someone in another review said the shoulder strap needs some padding, and I have to agree; if you pack heavily and plan to walk long distances as I do, you definitely will want a shoulder strap pad. You can purchase these somewhere, or go to REI and they might have extra straps with pads lying around that they'll give you for free. (They did that for me once.) BUT, I contacted Osprey and asked if they could provide one for me -- I was willing to pay -- and they shipped one to me free of any charge. Great products + Great customer service = I recommend them (and this bag) highly. I rarely write reviews but they have exceeded my expectations, so I just had to ...

Well designed, great build quality, very flexible
Great carry-on size, for 2-5 day trips. It is well designed, with great build quality. It has durable materials, stitching and fasteners, and it looks sweet. It has both coated and lined interior, so it is water resistant. It is surprisingly light and foldable – yet, strong and sturdy. I’m used to big duffel bags that are thick walled, and heavy. It feels high-tech in its use of nylon. It folds up into its own pocket, so it compresses nicely.Zippered pockets: one in top flap and two (one each side) are good for accessory items.Padded handles are a nice detail. You what is also awesome? The zipper pulls...who knew?Shoulder strap has cool spring-loaded, super-dense plastic fasteners, but no pad (not a deal breaker).Large “U” zipper provides access to internal compartment. This compartment is roomy and flexible, and easily fits flat clothes without any bunching. The compression straps allow for larger loads or smaller loads to be secured. Straps have loops which the leftover strap can be slid into.I highly recommend this bag.

Fantastic Bag
Osprey is known for making fantastic bags and this one does not disappoint. I have now used it on multiple trips, including one back from Afghanistan and the bag has been bullet proof. The 46 is quite enormous and holds over a weeks worth of clothes, overnight kit, along with any sort of small goodies you might feel you need to bring along. The buckles are well made and do their job when you packed the thing to its max, and the zippers have strong rubber loops on them that seem like they should last awhile. Finally my favorite feature is when your done with the bag, it flips into it's own side pocket and zips up nice and tight for storage. You'll see what I mean when it arrives in the mail. What are you waiting for? If you need a tough, medium size travel bag, this is the one for you.

Great Carry-on Bag
I've taken this bag on two long weekends already, and it works remarkably well. It's bigger than I expected, and the side pockets allow you to separate things nicely. The bottom is actually as waterproof as advertised. (I accidentally set it in a puddle at the airport) The top pocket is just big enough for book, passport and boarding passes.Another benefit to a carry-on duffel bag which hadn't occurred to me until I used one is that it is flexible enough to squeeze into spaces that a suitcase can't on a crowded flight. My only complaint is that for the price, I'd expected a bit better shoulder strap. Take the shoulder pad off of another bag you don't use though, and you'll no have that problem again. Well worth the money. I'm sure I'll get lots of miles out of this thing.
