Good old fashioned murder mystery
I’m happy I finally found a modern book that does not contain swear words, sex and wokism. Good old fashioned murder mystery set in 1920s. It’s the 4th book in the series and I’m looking forward to going through them in order.

Not my usual read
I am 70+ but usually only read modernish (preferably British) fiction as I am lost without mention of computers, mobile phones etc so a story set in the 1920s made a change for me. And I didn't even question why they didn't get out their trusty mobile to send for help! An entertaining read, I certainly enjoyed it.

A Whodunit Delight!
"The Mystery of Mistletoe Hall" is an absolute gem in the Lord Edgington Investigates series, delivering a standalone 1920s Christmas mystery that captivates from start to finish. Author Benedict Brown masterfully weaves a tale of intrigue, romance, and holiday cheer against the backdrop of Mistletoe Hall, a setting so vividly described that it feels like you've stepped back in time. Lord Edgington's sharp wit and keen investigative skills shine once again as he unravels the enigma surrounding a Yuletide gathering gone awry. The characters are impeccably crafted, each with their own secrets and motives, adding layers of complexity to the plot. The festive atmosphere is palpable, immersing readers in the magic of the holiday season while keeping them on the edge of their seats with suspense. The pacing is spot-on, and the resolution is both satisfying and unexpected. Whether you're a fan of historical mysteries or simply love a good whodunit, "The Mystery of Mistletoe Hall" is a must-read that will leave you yearning for more of Lord Edgington's adventures. Amusing whodunit with a cosy Christmas feel
I always read Christmas themed books in December and stumbled across this gem. I had not read any other books in the series before and so wasn't sure what to expect. The story is a very enjoyable and amusing murder mystery with Christmas trimmings. The characters are great, especially Chrissy whose perspective the story is told from. His cheeky comments add a light heartedness to the story, which contrasts well with the darker side of the murder mystery. I will definitely read some more in the series.

Dragged on
Easy to deduce very early who the killer is, so felt the storyline dragged on. Not keen on the character of the grandfather......thought him pompous, dull and boring. However, the grandson Christopher is a likeable character. This is a storyline that is losely based on an Agatha Christie novel. The first book that I've read in this series, and I may have enjoyed this book more had I read the previous 3 books.

Simply wonderful
I absolutely loved this book. Very Agatha Christie. A proper murder mystery with the perfect setting. I love the fact that it is set in England and I love the stately home surrounded with deep, white snow. I suspected the musician. I was happy to be wrong. A simply wonderful book.

A fun mystery series
This is the 4th book in the Lord Edgington series and like the first 3, and the free short story, they are fun to read with some interesting twists. They are part Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson with his grandson Chrissy as Dr. Watson. The relationship between these two grow with each book as Lord Edgington tries to make a detective out of Chrissy. This book is a nod to And Then There Were None complete with a poem and figures. Like any good mystery the author keeps you guessing until the end. The book takes place after WWI in the 1920s and the author captures the era, at least to me. The stories themselves are fun to read and hard to put down.Starting with book 3 the author routinely has a section about interesting facts learned while researching the book, a character list, and a list of words and phrases that the reader may not be familiar with as the author tries to use the English phrases of that era. Lord Edgington has interesting ideas concerning his "downstairs" staff that adds commentary on the times. Finally there is a recipe for the cocktail featured in the story. If you enjoyed Agatha Christie books and the Sherlock Holmes stories, check out this series. This book can be read as a stand alone but to truly appreciate the ending the reader should read the first three books first. Sign up to receive the short story and read it before the second book. The author stresses that the killer of previous books is never mentioned in future stories. If you have Kindle Unlimited and like a good mystery story you should check out this series. I need to get back to book 5!

A Great Holiday Mystery
This book is a great Christmas murder mystery with that feel of the roaring 20s. Set in an isolated mansion with a killer on the loose. Great characters and an amazing story.

Characters behaving abnormally
As much as I like a cozy detective story, I found the characters in this behaving strange. The main characters find a dead body - a murder and he decides to focus on hauling a Christmas tree and decorating it. Next time it happens they decide they need to dress up for dinner or breakfast or something (I forget what it is right now). I don’t know if the previous books too have been like this and I never noticed or if the quality of the stories have gone down. Perhaps I noticed it only because I happened to read another review that mentioned this before I began reading the book.

Great who done it.
Loved the storyline. Unusual to head off to a friend's place taking staff and extra guests.Would recommend this to those who like their murders done with class and a touch of humour.
