Brillliant! scholar, poet, author, compassionate heart!
This is but the most recent novel of Antoon's that I've read....one of a series of about ? 6 or so...all equally valuablel, insightful and heartfelt.....highly recommended...and I am generally not a "fiction" reader but his works/words go deep...

The other side of story in Iraq war
We heard so much our side of stories of how many we lost our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, nieces and nephews etc. from participating the war in Iraq. All of them knew what the risks behind their mission. But we did not hear the Iraqis side of stories of how many they lost their babies, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, nieces and nephews, etc. by involuntarily involve in this war. The author presents one story after another through the daily life of Iraqis. No screams. No tears. Only silent heartaches.

A must read
A FABULOUS book that interlaces the stories of Iraqi voices from many facets. The writing is superb and the story pulls you in immediately. Loved this book. Reading the book with the breakdown of items both material and non material and their “experience” of war was breathtaking.
