Applied Ethics (Oxford Readings in Philosophy)

This book is absolutly essential reading if you are considering applying for a post graduate qualification in any of the psycho-medical sciences.Whilst you could not exactly call this book 'easy reading', it is well laid out and the author has ensured that the book flows well so that it is easy to reference specific topics.

This is a wonderful book. The essays are all of a high standard - thought provoking, challenging and well written. Although they deal with profound issues, you do not need to be familiar with ethical concepts to benefit from the book. If you are interested in ethics, I think this is essential reading. One or two essays seem dated in terms of examples used and data referred to (particularly 8 and 14) - but even here once you get beyond the specific examples used the essays are still brilliant. Overall I particularly liked 4, 12 and 13 - two of which are topics I would not normally be deeply interested in. If you want to enjoy academic writing at its best, most practical and most accessible you would struggle to do better than this volume.

A good collection of some important essays in Applied Philosophy. It is nice both as an introduction to the field, as a survey of what people were working on mostly in the 1960's throughout the 70's and 80's and is handy for reference purposes.

Well presented collection of essays from the recent last century, in widely varied, highly relevant and digestable portions! An interesting and important collection.

Very readable and interesting. I bought this book for some academic research and enjoyed it. Great if you are interested in ethics generally.
