Closet Door Needs at Least a Few Inches of Clearance in Width or it Will Not Close
Great product, but had to return because it wouldn't fit on our closet door despite being wide and tall enough. We saw the note about this being a frequently returned item, so we made sure to measure the door it would be added to before purchasing. However, once we put it on the door, the depth of the rack stuck out so far that it prevented the door from closing. So, your closet door must be at least a few inches wider than the rack for it to fit properly, e.g., the rack is 21.63" wide, so your door must be at least 25/26". Our door was only 24" wide, and that caused the problem.

Read this before assembling
I bought this shoe organizer for my wife and I am very happy with it (she is too). I tried one of those organizers that is like a big sheet with a bunch of pockets on it... useless. The pockets were too small to hold 90% of the shoes she has (just one shoe per pocket), and shoes that have any kind of weight to the heel pull on the pocket and hang way out away from the door. That thing got returned. But this one I like. The "shelves" are deep enough to hold just about any kind of shoe, and the construction is sturdy enough that I feel pretty confident that it will last. The metal tube frame is very lightweight but the design is good and it seems like it will do the job long term. The hooks that go over the door are padded on the inside and the frame has plastic endcaps on the parts that touch the door, so I don't expect it to do any damage to the door. Now, as far as the assembly goes - yes, it comes with a full-size, multi-page instruction manual that is well written and has large, easy to comprehend diagrams, but the sequence of steps should be changed up to make the process much easier. The manual instructs you to assemble one vertical support and attach ALL of the horizontal rods in the first step. After having done this, you are supposed to slide the single piece mesh shelving over all of the horizontal bars. Imagine this and you'll understand. The mesh is extremely lightweight and porous, and the sleeves that fit over the horizontal rods are fairly snug. This means that you will have to slide a couple inches onto one rod, then a couple inches onto the next rod and so on. The whole time you are doing this, the mesh that you put over the first few rods is actively trying to work itself off. This is pretty frustrating and it takes a relatively long time to get all of the mesh over all of the rods. Here's my recommendation:1. Assemble the two vertical supports and hang them over the door at the proper distance apart.2. Connect the top horizontal rod to one side and slide the top sleeve of the mesh material completely onto the tube.3. Loosely connect the first rod to the other vertical support so that the mesh is trapped and can't go anywhere.4. Then slide the remaining horizontal rods into the remaining mesh sleeves and loosely connect both ends to the vertical supports.5. Repeat this until all of the rods are in place and then tighten everything up, making sure not to pinch the mesh at either end.6. Stand back and marvel at how easy that was. This is how I wish I had assembled it. Efficient. Stable. Zero frustration. Try it out and let me know.

All The Shoes!
So far I'm impressed with how many shoes I was able to put on it. The way the mesh hangs allows for boots to be laid in sideways. It was a pain to put together because I didn't have a lot of space but it feels sturdy. We will see how it holds up!

Perfect for kids’/women’s shoes & walk-in closet
This is a 5 star for me and wish I would’ve ordered sooner, but I gave it 4 stars because it wouldn’t work in a lot of situations. If you want this for kids’ shoes or women’s small sizes, it is amazing! You can easily fit 36 pairs (if a lot of dress shoes & sandals but not 36 tennis shoes) and it takes up no closet space. I wear women’s sizes 6-7 and it’s great! My husband wears a men’s size 12 and this does not work for his shoes at all. Also, the closet door won’t close all the way because of the way the clamps are at the top. We have a large walk-in closet off our bathroom and never shut the door anyway so it doesn’t matter. I think this is great for a walk-in but I’m not sure how it would work on a small traditional closet. Most likely the shoes would press against the clothes and/or the door wouldn’t close.

Impressive
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked this product because I wanted my shoes to be out of the way and not visible. I’m impressed at how many shoes it holds, pictured are 19 pairs of shoes. I put it together by myself and it was simple.

Great buy!
This was well worth the money to buy. My original shoe rack took up most of my closet, and one hip check took it down. Had to buy something new and this was what worked out absolutely amazing for me. As you can see I didn't put bigger shoes onto it; which is a bummer; but not a huge issue for me. It holds my heels, sneakers, and flats and keeps them all organized. Since being on the door it is really sturdy, I don't feel that it will break easily like my previous one. The height works well too even though it is taller than me, just means I am able to store alot of shoes. Overall it was a great buy for me and gives me more space in my closet.

Can’t open my door with this behind it.
Unfortunately, I’m not really able to recommend this product. First of all, this is way too wide to go behind my closet door. Since my door opens inward, I was barely able to open my door when this was behind it. And I’m certainly not going to display shoes in front of my door. I wanted to try to move this to the garage, but unfortunately the hooks do not fit with the garage door as that is a different type of door. This was also extremely difficult to assemble. Eventually, I was able to do it, but it’s very flimsy and the fabric seems very thin so you would not want to put high heels on this or it’ll rip through the fabric. Right now it’s sitting in my garage and I’m probably going to donate it because it’s too late to return. I ended up getting a different behind the door storage that’s not meant for shoes, but I was able to use it for shoes and I would recommend that if you have a door that opens inward otherwise you won’t be able to open your door
