Studio Albums 1978-1984

This no frills attached box set is awesome! The sound quality is top notch & it captures Van Halen at the bands most energetic & exciting time! I am really getting tired of hearing people complain about the lack of this & there should have been that !! The product review tells you exactly what your getting & for the price you should be glad your getting it at all ! This is the first & quite possibly the best incarnation of Van Halen. Don't get me wrong I loved Sammy Hagar with Montrose & I loved him on his own & I loved what he was allowed to do with the Van Halen Brother's. David Lee Roth must have gotten as much air time as Van Halen's front man as Michael Jordan did playing basketball, LOL! This is a awesome box set covering the bands first incarnation & the sound quality is great !!! The product review is accurate & shows you what you get & if you grew up amazed hearing their debut album & eagerly awaited the album's that followed than this box set is for you & at this price I wouldn't hesitate. A great way to update your C.D.'s without going broke! Van Halen hit the ground running with "Diamond Dave" & wrapped up their time together with a smash hit album in 1984. I would love to see a box set as cheap if not cheaper of the Sammy year's ! And what happened to Gary Charone from Exrtreme I thought he was going to front Van Halen... He must of had an idea & got fired!

I got this pack of CDs for my birthday last year. 6 cds for this price is very cheap. I still have the CDs and none are scratched, and they all work nicely.

Great collection

A great collection of the best VH albums

Nicely presented set with each disk in its own card cover replicating the front and back of each original album. They come in a folding laminated card stock compact storage box, and makes a great gift for any Van Halen fan who is interested in having a very portable complete catalog of the albums including David Lee Roth on vocals, which were produced by Ted Templeman. This set was released in 2013, and includes the remastered Women and Children First that was new at the time; the other albums included in this set are not fully remastered and have the very clean original digital audio. The other albums were not released in fully remastered pedigree until 2015. If you're fixed on those, they can be found individually, or partially in a Best-Of set or as tracks on Best of Both Worlds. The remastered one aside, the other albums in this set are still a gem because they let you hear the digital albums as they were widely produced and heard by the world at the times of their release in the 1980's. The 2015 remastered albums are indeed a slightly brighter sound and have a much heavier bass line, but that isn't how the original albums were produced by Ted Templeman. As such, they're a little unfamiliar to the mature fan. Either way, I'm very happy with this purchase. The case cover has a somewhat cheesy '80's-looking design, which only adds to to the charm.

Great collection in a small box.

I bought this set as the cheapest way to get most of Van Halen's first albums. Most are great like the debut album, VH II and 1984. I found that I didn't really like Women and Children First or Diver Down very much but still a great deal for this set.

I've been listening to Van Halen for over forty years. I have 3 of the 6 cds in the box set. When I saw this I ordered it. I now own all 6 cds with Diamond Dave.
