I like these small double carabiners. I attached one to the zipper pulls on my large backpack to connect the zippers. It does not lock the pack but it makes it more complicated to unzip and thus it deflects theft and hopefully keeps the compartments from unzipping as well.

I love these things. I have them on my key ring, my backpack and a couple at work for holding open some metal cabinet doors. They are well built and much more durable than the cheap plastic kind.
