Grover Tuner (8020)

I needed a truss wrench for my Pedulla bass guitar and could not find one. I tried several different sizes. This one works perfectly!

Searched and searched for a better tuner for my Music Maker lap harp -- tuner provided is a flat piece of metal very hard to maneuver, which complicated tuning. This Grover 8020 tuner works perfectly -- easy to make those tiny, tiny adjustments when tuning this lap harp (and I'm guessing other small string instruments).

My shipping notice for this small, single item came quickly which is always great, however, in the hands of UPS it arrived outside the shipment window which was a bummer as we were traveling.Bought this to quickly help my mother tune a way-out-of-tune autoharp she picked up at a garage sale. Tried to quickly find a solution with pliers, wrenches and anything else I could find. Nothing would even remotely turn a string. Once this wrench arrived, I was done tuning in 5 minutes. It is rather small but perfect for the job. The wood handle makes it comfortable to use and feels like it would last some time.

Make sure you get the right prong shape and size. It’s pretty easy to use after that.

I'm so glad I came across this tuning hammer. I have a little trapezoid-shaped Belorussian lap harp that came with a flat metal tuning key that is a pain to use. When a string recently broke, the idea of replacing it using that awful key just made me want to throw the harp out the window. Thankfully, I found this listing and saw the picture another review posted of a similar Russian lap harp. So I bought this tuning hammer, and it works perfectly. I easily replaced the broken string.

I ordered this because the Oscar Schmidt autoharp I ordered at the same time didn't have one listed in the description. When I received the autoharp it was broken into about 100 pieces, so I returned it. I ordered another 'harp from another source and had to wait two weeks for it to arrive. It came with a tuning hammer. So, I figured I had a spare. Until I tried to use this one. This tuning hammer won't fit the tuning pegs of the 'harp I received. The hole/opening on this wrench is smaller than the wrench that came with my 'harp. And, it's malformed. It's not square, as the one is I received with my 'harp. After it didn't work, I checked the posted reviews. I saw some that said their hammer worked on Oscar Schmidt 'harps. I read others that said their hammer failed or wouldn't fit. Obviously, the quality control for this item is in the toilet. Don't make the mistake I made and expect this to work on an Oscar Schmidt 'harp.

I received an old autoharp from an antique shop. All the strings needed significant re-tuning, and this tuner with its wooden handle was comfortable to use through the whole lengthy process. Though the pegs were old and a little rusted, this wrench gripped them perfectly without slipping or rounding off any pegs.If you've never tuned an autoharp before, be aware that some notes are skipped. You will need to consult a tuning guide for your particular autoharp or the chords won't sound right. Mine was printed on the harp, so it was easy. You might not be as lucky.

Not sure what the other customers received but mine seems like it is superior in quality to those. Handle is sturdy and the metal seems to hold up. I've tuned and retuned the harp several times and it works like a charm. Fits great on my lap harp that is branded as a 'melody maker' and made in Romania. Smaller pegs than those on a piano or harp and this fits perfectly. Very happy with it.
