Student and teacher approved
I had purchased one of the lead manufacturers of clay supplies pottery, pencils for years but they have become too expensive almost doubling in cost compared to these Pasler underglaze pencils. So far these have worked really well and my students really enjoy using them we have only tried the black ones I haven’t tried the other colors to see how they do with the high firing. At this price I will continue to buy them.

Presice and perfect!
These pencils were exactly what I needed to create hand drawn artwork on my pottery. They sharpened well and held a decent point, allowing my to create detailed drawings on bisqueware. Once fired with a clear glaze, the black lines remained clear and defined and the graphite color of the pencil fired to a true black. I love these!! Have recommended to others - good value also. I will try some of the other Pasler products.

Doesn't stick to kiln shelves.
These pencils are so much easier to use than painting underglaze onto the bottom of your pot. You can use them to initial your work, or in my case, write the glaze that you are testing on the bottom of your work.

Works well
slightly difficult to sharpen without breaking, but works well, particularly if you dampen it

Easy to Use
They worked great on a ceramic oil bottle I threw. I drew cornflowers on the outside of the bottle. Side note - I did keep the outside of the bottle raw; no glaze.

Nice underglaze pencils
Really like these pencils for fine detail. I’ve only used this in black so far. Easy to sharpen with a regular pencil sharpener. Used Mayco zinc-free (SW-004) clear glaze on top and fired to cone 6.

Novice reviewer--they performed well for me
<I am not an experienced potter.> I bought these to experiment with and they have worked well for my purposes. Signing pieces and drawing on bisqueware.
