Good product, well delivered
I seldom leave reviews. This vegetable tanned leather was of good, consistent quality and consistent gauge. Back is roll-pressed for a smooth, less-fibered surface (an indicator of the tanner's quality). The piece was exceptionally well-delivered: Wound on a substantial board roll, and with a zippable bag for storage (and to keep off UV exposure). Impressed. The piece did contain one fold imperfection, but slight, and I wish the tan was deeper (darker). This is a good source for at least small cuts, of consistent quality.

Clean front but terribly pasted flesh side
Ok so this is cheap import tooling leather. If you're looking for something to practice on, or something that will be lined, this is decent stuff. It's a bit squishy when tooling and slicking the edges mushrooms more than better quality leather. Not horrible but probably wouldn't order again.

As best as I can tell, this isn't veg tanned leather
This isn't veg tanned leather. Not sure what it is, but it's not veg tanned leather like I'm used to using to make tooled leather projects. It's too soft to be used in projects designed for veg tanned leather. Giving it two stars because it may be useful eventually, just not for what I intended.1. It has Zero smell when dry, and an almost non-existent scent when it's wet, which is very suspicious.2. The back (flesh side) doesn't look like you would expect veg tanned leather to look. It's not shaved down to the appropriate thickness, it looks ... pressed? there's a pattern on it, like it was ran between steel rollers and a canvas cloth was between the rollers and the leather on the back.3. The front looks kinda plasticky, but it takes water like veg tanned should, and stopped looking so plasticky.- this is the only good thing about it.3.5 when it takes water, you start seeing the surface imperfections.4. I didn't read the description very closely before I purchased this piece or I would have noticed that it says it was tanned with vegetable oil... uh, you veg tan with vegetable tannins, not oils.5. Odd thing... but not a detriment, just? unnecessary? Weird? idk. it was rolled up with paper, then that roll was all rolled up in an odd ?bag? pillow cover? Has a zipper. No clue what the fiber is or what it's intended purpose is though. Shamefully wasteful.Ah well. Caveat emptor.

I guess It’s not completely terrible
It was a uniform thickness with little excess on the back side but the thickness was more like 5oz, NOT 7.5-8oz and it was extremely soft and flimsy so it did not work for my project. It felt like an oil tan, not a veg tan. The description needs to be updated because even though it’s not exactly garbage I also didn’t really get what I paid for.

bad product description
The product description clearly states 12" x 24" however product is only 12" x 12". nice leather, though
