Off the mark alot, but so is the A+ exam.
The Good:There are a LOT of practice questions in here, which is really what you need. The kindle version has good navigation built in, so you can flip easily between the sections you want to go to, replacing the convenience of sticking your thumb in a book. Every question in here has a good amount of explanation material for it, so you don't have to poke around the internet as much as with other practice quizzes. The Bad:When I actually took the A+ exam, only about 10 or so questions on the test matched the ones in this book. 10 out of 600. That is a really bad conversion rate (I should mention that despite this, the explanations from this book helped me towards better guesses on quite a few of the A+ questions, and guesses are what that test comes down to). Also this book tends to refer to devices by their common name (like "Ethernet"), but the test ALWAYS referred to them by the technical name for their plug, leaving me less than prepared. The book advertises that it comes with a program that mimics the actual text environment. This is true, but what it doesn't mention is that this practice quiz does not have any questions that aren't in the book, so it is just the same thing over again. The Neutral:This book had a TON of really ambiguous questions, the kind that are super annoying because the answer could be different depending on how you look at the situation, and where you might legitimately disagree with the author's answer. Often they made me very angry. However, so did the actual A+ exam, so at least it prepared me for that.Overall, the A+ exam is kind of ridiculous, rarely precise and with more than a few buggy simulations. It's harder than it seems like it will be, with TONS of networking questions. However, I passed and it has helped my career. Practice questions are VERY important to learning, more so than anything else, and this book is not too expensive. Either get this or one like it.

Passed!
I had little computer experience when I started this summer studying for the CompTIA A+ exams. I passed both exams in November and this book was a big part of that success. I used the Meyers book as an introduction, and the Gibson, and Prowse ExamCram books for review, and would recommend a multi-book approach. I also watched about half of the Professor Messer videos, but found I did better with the books. Though the other books have sample questions, and one or two tests, I found the extensive practice of taking the test after I had prepared with the other material really helpful in feeling ready to take the tests. This confidence carried over into the actual testing situation. Especially helpful was dealing with the feeling of not knowing the answer, and then trying to figure it out. Prowse gives lots of good tips for preparing for and taking the test and his explanation of WHY the answers are right or wrong is invaluable. Buy the book and follow his guidelines for when to take the actual exam and reduce the anxiety of wondering if you are ready or not.

Very please with the Author, he email me back with a solution to his book.
This is a must have for your studing of the Comptia A+ certs. I know that may sound corny but this book is very good. I would also recommend purchasing the six edition as well. I did not because I did not know it was there. But I think I have enuff material to pass. The test engine for this book is very good. Oh..one more note: the Author of this books actually emails you back and talk about your concerns about this book and other materials in reference to this book. I had trouble downloading the test engine. So i email publisher did not get a respones. So I emailed the author through his contact form. A day or two later he had email me back with a solution to the test engine, he just email me the link and ask was there any other issues. For that, he gets ten stars for his service. I'm planning on purchasing the network series of Exam Cram well this will be just of many books. But make Exam Cram either number one or number two purchase.

Great book to get you certified in your career field.
Great product to help me with studying since this is almost the exact thing you will see on the A+ certification. According to my instructor this will be the best book to help with training for the big test as I take the class. Funny thing is the class ends a day before my birthday. Haha! My instructor has used some of this material in class to see if we got it and I actually find it quite helpful for studying so I will be using this book and the Mike Meyer's Passport A+ Certification books (4th and 5th edition, basically the same except virtualization is in the 5th edition.) Both books will help you with getting your certification and open many doors that may have been closed to you along the way. Once I pass this class and the final exam. I plan on going for the Network+ and Security+ certs as well. I'm securing my future. Use this book everybody that has use this got it and moved on.

Good training! But no index!
Excellent preparation tool for working as a technician. Follows the same clarity of writing as the main textbook and I like the way the difficulty increases as you work through the book. Also helpful is the format of having the first part structured by topic and the latter two-thirds of the book presenting randomly selected questions. This is a great idea from a learning point of view but what is missing is an index. I regard this as quite a serious omission because if you want to test your understanding very specifically or prepare questions for someone else your training then the task is made harder by the lack of an index - and for the sake of few extra pages why isn't it there?? Hence I can't give it 5 stars.

Waste of time
Whatever you do, don't waste your time on this book.It is absolutely useless when it comes to the real exams. Now let me explain, i did not fail the exams, i passed them both on the first try (Ironically, with the help of the excellent A+ Exam Cram study book). My point is, the test questions that come with this book is that they are either incredibly difficult (moreso than the ones on the exams) or they're completely irrelevant, the only thing this book did was make me feel i was miles off from passing the exam due to some of it's extreme questions, guess what? I was not, passed both exams and missed the 100% mark by around 50 points each time, if i was to take the questions on this book even after passing the real exams, i'd keep failing, avoid!

Somehow there is something missing...
The content of the book is quite good and the level of questions is quite demanding and not like the ones that you might find in other books. My only dissapointment with this book is that the kindle version does not come with software, which makes the study a bit more difficult as you need to go back and forth with the answers and questions. The second reason why i was dissapointed is that the book promises a 10% discount when you take your CompTIA A+ exam but this only applies to the US CompTIA part, so if you are going to take the exam in another part of the world, this offer will not apply to you !!!
