Vittles Vault SoftStore Collapsible, Airtight Pet Food Container 50 Pound Capacity, Blue

I love Vittles Vault products, but I couldn't find one exactly the right dimensions. I wanted to put it on a Rev-a-Shelf under-counter sliding trash can bracket so I could slide the horse feed bins out and hide them away the rest of the time. I ended up buying this and putting it inside the 35 qt trash cans that came with the Rev-a-Shelf. I cannot fit an entire 50 lb bag of pelleted horse feed in it, but that is partially due to the size of the trash cans, not the product. The lid is really easy to open and close--actually easier than the traditional hard-sided Vittles Vault I have for dog food, which requires some pressure for a good seal. I keep feed bags inside so I don't have to wash out the product, but the liner seems like it would hold up well if you put food directly inside. Love it and so glad Amazon is selling it now because I had to buy my first one elsewhere.

the top screws on to a plastic rim attached to the plastic cloth. the first one I bought 12 years ago was great. One of my dogs got to the bag and chewed the material through a year ago. I've replaced it now twice... the first replacement came and months later the plastic ring around the top broke causing it to detach from the material. The second replacement purchased a month ago, the plastic ring came new detached. They just must not be making them like they used to. I'd not recommend them anymore.

I am using this to store bread flour. It easily holds 50lb. of flour and was fairly easy to fill. The strap is not strong enough to use to lift a bag filled with 50lb. of something however, so if you need to move around a filled bag it may be an issue (not a problem for me).

We've quit using this because it was such a pain to fill and to get the last few cups out of the bottom.

I purchased two of the flexible bags for storing malted barley. Overall, I'd recommend the bags for storing perishable goods. Just don't pick them up by the nylon strap when full.The pros are:1.) Can hold ~55lbs of uncrushed grain.2.) Have a sealing lid (o-ring lined).3.) Durable (canvas with plastic liner).4.) Flexible (allows for exacuation of emtpy space).The cons are:1.) Not 100% airtight (the connector ring will slowly leak air if you exert pressure). But, good enough for storing grain.2.) The plastic connector ring is not strong enough (picking up a 55lb bag will cause the ring to bend).

After my dog got out his kennel and ate through the side....I didn't look for ANY OTHER type of storage system. It was another soft vittles vault or nothing. I've tried about everything until I stumbled on one of these about 5 years ago. I'll never use anything else.We live in the woods and mice in the garage are a problem. They don't get in here. The food stays fresh, it collapses as you use it up and the lid just spins on and off with the flip of the wrist.Best of all, grab the strap throw it in the back of the truck and we are off on a hunting trip.This is one of the few products you'll run across that once you use it, you won't want anything else.I know its just a dog food container, but that's exactly my point...food storage and feeding the dog shouldn't be a pain...and its not with one of these.

works like a charm keeping large quantity of dry dog food fresh while keeping ants out. we have two dogs who eat different food. bought twp of these and labeled the lids. wish they came in different colors. easy to open, we keep the scoop jabbed into the food sealed in. we might get the smaller one for all the different bird seed, but the ants don't bother the seed.

Bought many products from Amazon and this thing takes the cake for the biggest pile of junk. There should be a negative stars option just for this product. Ordered 50lb bag and got 30lb. The rim to screw the lid in was completely cracked (there was no damage to the factory box or the Amazon box. The rim is also not glued or sewed so there's no way to screw the lid on and off without the the whole bag falling apart. DO NOT BUY!!!!!
