You would have to test each phase (wire) individually, as a megger is meant to test one single conductor at a time. The (E) lead is your ground and your (L) lead is attached to the conductor you would like to test. Any reading other than basically zero resistance is usually bad.

So how does this differ from the more $$ fluke and megger brands? i have a fluke 87 but need to test insul on some 1/0 wiring i pulled in my house.
