Great drive and a reasonable price
The drive arrived well packaged and protected. Installation was as easy as it gets. I can't hear the drive spinning due to the NVR's cooling fan being so noisy! Performance is actually better than expected. I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to family and friends who needed a dedicated CCTV/NVR drive.

Not for large amounts of data
So the drive itself is noisy, it has a pretty fast cache and after windows formatting, has about 3.5tb of storage. Now for the negative. I wanted to move about 1tb of data onto the drive, started and all seemed to be going well until about 7 GB and the drive started getting slower and slower. The actual transfer rate to the drive is seriously slow. Once the cache empties and it catches up (pause then unpause about a minute later) you can move another 5 GB at speed. The transfer speed to the drive was 170mbs dropping to about 4mbs when the cache was full. I'm seriously concerned about the extraction of this data when I want to move to another drive in the future speedwise. My other 2 1tb drives hold out well at 100mbs on sustained transfer so it's definitely an issue with the Skyhawk. Do not buy this drive if you want to move data to it. It's far too slow for that.Read speed seems fine however not needed to transfer a large amount of from it so time will tell. Definitely buying wd black again next time.Update: its just awful. The read speed is too slow. I have 20 year old hard drives that are faster! It doesn't even hit 30mb read speed.

Excellent bit of kit to fit into my cctv system. After trying to get this product, I was sent the wrong size and make but at last the correct product arrived. Really easy to fit and went without a hitch.I would recommend this drive.
