I Like it!
I really like this rug. After I unrolled it, I vacuumed it. I know several reviews mentioned that it sheds a lot however, I’ve had it now for a couple of months and I haven’t had any issues. It feels great to the feet and it has an ample amount of sturdiness to it. I did not put a pad underneath it.

The softest rug EVER!!!
If I could give more than 5 stars for softness, I would! I want to just keep walking across it because it is just as soft and plush as it looks in the pictures. Reminder - rake your rug once a week to keep it from getting matted and icky.

if you don’t walk on it, it’s perfect...
Loved this rug when I first got it — but if you plan to actually have any direct contact with it, I can’t recommend it. The area under my coffee table is still in perfect condition after two years — the areas in front of the sofa and love seat ( horizontal edges of the rug) have been a constant struggle. This is not due to “foot traffic” per se, because there’s little room to walk ... but rather the area underfoot while seated on the sofa ( usually barefoot). It has matted and flattened horribly. Took these pix before throwing it out — I didn't have a problem with shedding, but the matted flattened areas are pretty gross. The center area ( where no one can actually step on the rug, since it’s under a glass top coffee table, still looks great. Very hard to vacuum, a dust magnet, and large chunks of matted fluff pull out when you rake it. The company suggested using a fork , but after long raking sessions it became clear it was only a temporary solution. I have rotated the rug, i have vacuumed, brushed, shaken it, and tried just about everything. It’s hopeless. I have another new 4x6 venice that I bought a year later when it went on sale. It’s still rolled up. When I can rearrange furniture to leave a foot of bare floor in front of the furniture as a path, I will put the new rug under the coffee table and admire it from a safe distance ... but that’s not why we buy a rug, is it? I really can’t recommend it, unless you can find a decorative place for it where no one will ever step on it.

Fantastic high pile rug
Safavieh has a family of rugs that this Venice rug seems to belong to. The other 2 are the Paris rug and the luxe rug. I've attached a photo comparison of all 3 as I think that shows the differences even better than words! This Venice rug is made of shiny, thin fibers mixed in with thicker fibers that look like yarn to me. The Paris rug is ONLY made of the shiny fibers, no yarns mixed in. This makes it much thinner and more slippery. The Venice rug has a lot of body and feels much more substantial and cushy underfoot.I've been using the Venice rug for about 2 years now and the yarns do get a bit matted down but all the shiny fibers in it do not mat and help keep the rug from looking worn.I'm able to vaccuum it with my shark vacuum set to hard floors without a problem. And my cats have made several "messes" on it and it cleaned up great and looked good as new afterwards. I used my regular Resolve carpet cleaner on it.It is very similar to the luxe rug and it's hard to tell them apart unless they're right next to each other. But the luxe rug is made of the shiny fibers and yarns about 5x the thickness of the yarns in the Venice. It is SO THICK. If you have doors nearby you definitely need to stick with the Venice because they will not open over the luxe.I've had no problems with shedding or odor or anything from any of the 3 rugs. The Venice and the luxe are both amazing rugs in my opinion and 2 years later I'm very pleased with them both still. The price of this rug is so good for how nice it looks and feels. Would absolutely recommend it. Hope this helps you in your quest to find the perfect plush rug!
