Q: Are u suppose to put silcone direct on oven rack?

You can but whatever you are baking will make the pans too flimsy and spill out. To be safe just sit silicone on a cookie sheet or jelly roll type metal pan for support.Then fill with what you are making. Much easier to handle this way! Hope this helps!!

Q: Dumb question...do I spray or grease before using?

I didn’t, but I just bought a silicone pan from a sept store and it said to wash and spray the first time only. I have 5 round pans and didn’t spray any of them and they never stick.

Yes, it is. And it's heat resistant up to 500°F

Q: Are the sides of the cake pan straight up and down (perpendicular to the bottom surface)? Or do they slope outward slightly?

The sides are straight up and down, not sloped.
