How to do this puzzle in a week...
After about two or three days of banging my head against the wall, I started to question my life's choices. I wondered if "puzzle masochism" was a productive use of my time. That's when I first read the reviews for this beast...One said that, with their wife's help, they were able to complete it in a week. My first thought was "yeah, that's a massive lie OR you're a savant OR you're both probably pro puzzlers... no normal person could do that." I thought this, because another reviewer said it took them six months. And MANY other reviewers said they just gave up. And yeah, for me (and my wife) the temptation to give up was definitely there. The only thing driving us was our pride.... and it was also taking up the whole kitchen table + counter top, and we needed to move it at some point.Well, we did it in two weeks... During that time, our strategy evolved. Had we started with the right strategy, I believe we could have done it in one week.In our first sitting we completed almost the whole edge and part of the middle. The second day we did a bit more, but not much. We were about a week through, and had only completed probably 15% to 20% of the puzzle. The problem was that the pieces look SO SIMILAR, it's mind boggling. Every time we successfully connected a single piece, we gave each other high fives. Sad, right!?Then when we started to strategize:1. We tried sorting by shape. We laid each piece out on the table in neat rows, grouped by puzzle piece shape. This isn't too hard, because there aren't more than five or six distinct shapes, plus a couple outliers. It helped a lot and allowed us to quickly find the shape of specific pieces. But I think we relied on this strategy for too long.2. Eventually, we started to focus on specific gear images, as if they were mini puzzles, and then when we had a few pieces connected together, we inserted them into the circle where they should be (even though not connected to the rest of the puzzle). Similar to step one, we relied on this strategy too long as well. Eventually, we again sorted the pieces by shape.3. Toward the end, we alternated between a) sorting and b) focusing on images. This proved to be the most successful approach. Had we employed this strategy from the beginning (quick alternating between step one and two), I believe we could have completed the puzzle in a week. We're just normal people, not gifted or anything. Also, I'm just barely getting into doing puzzles. I've done about five or six in the last month... but before that, probably less than two or three in the last 20 years.Don't give up. It's an absolutely gorgeous puzzle when it's done. Can't wait to hang it on my wall.

High quality
This puzzle is very well-made. The pieces fit well, and the image is clear. It is a difficult puzzle, but not impossible, so it's a lot of fun to work on.

IF you like a challenge…
This is a very fun puzzle IF you like a challenge. I’m not a puzzler, but my wife is and put it together in about a week. It was, however, one of the most challenging puzzles she’s done to date — even harder than the completely black circle puzzle I gave her a couple years ago.

GREAT PUZZLE--VERY DIFFICULT
This is the hardest puzzle I have ever done! Gift it to dedicated puzzlers. It is not for everyone--especially not for young children or people who want a "pretty" puzzle to work. It would not work for a group of casual workers. In the end it is very satisfying to finish.

Surprising
This puzzle was much harder to to than I expected-which made it more fun to complete. The only problem I have with it is that while none of the pieces were bent, many of them were slightly warped which caused them to not interlock well with other pieces. Makes for a rather loose fitting puzzle.

Nice puzzle
If you like a challenge, this one is for you. I have it as a gift to a friend who adores building puzzles. The front of the box came with a small year on the front from the shipping process. Because it was a gift, I was a little disappointed that this happened but those are the chances you take when you purchase something that needs to be shipped...not Amazon's fault. Also, the friend I have it to is extremely laid back, so she didn't mind, but I was a bit embarrassed to give her a gift that was fractured.
