For a ghost controls gate system without a Zombie lock, can burglars push real hard on the gates to get them to open ?

I do not think so. I tried once and I only pushed enough (NOT real hard) to tell me that the gates will not open, it all has to do with the gearing inside the operators... I have a Zombie Lock installed (dual wrought iron gates) and I can tell you that if the lock is properly installed it can't be opened once closed and there is no way to "monkey" with it. It definitely does not allow the gate to be pushed open. It might not look secure while not installed, but, once it is properly installed it is very secure... GHOST Controls have proven to be well worth their money, and the customer support is excellent.

If you have a double gate do you need 2 zombie locks?

No. You will install the powered portion of the ZombieLock on the 1st operator side of gate (gate operator with shortest power/control cable and closes to the system control box) and install the receiver portion of the ZombieLock on the 2nd operator side (gate operator with longer power/control cable and furthest from the system control box). Can I just use the lock remotely without the gate opener control board? Can I rig it to a generic remote control system sold on amazon?

We are not sure how to qualify ‘RIG it to GENERIC remote control system’ so we will just explain how our lock works and its specifications/requirements. One can ‘RIG’ to a ‘GENERIC’ system that meet the following specifications and requirements: REQUIREMENT: If you are not familiar with the below terms, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE ZombieLock in another system other than Ghost Controls Gate Opener System Control Board. 1. Basic knowledge of electronic principles is required. 2. ZombieLock is a 12Vdc Solenoid Lock, when 12 Vdc is applied the solenoid is pulled back (unlock position). However, it is NOT CONTINOUS DUTY. 12Vdc can only be applied at maximum of 20% duty cycle. 3. Zombie Lock specifications: a. 12Vdc @ 3 Amps (minimum). b. 20% Duty Cycle with maximum ON TIME of 10 seconds. Example: ON TIME = 10 seconds (maximum) ; OFF TIME = 50 seconds. c. When Solenoid is activated (12V is applied or key-switch activated), the Blue wire is shorted to the Red wire for feedback control. d. Exceeding these requirements/specifications will void the warranty. 4. A ‘generic’ system minimum requirements: a. Power supply: 12Vdc that can deliver at least 5 Amps. b. Timer Normally Open relay switch that can switch at least 10 Amps. The ON time of the relay should be momentary or programmable/adjustable. Thank you for your interest in Ghost Controls

On a dual gate does this clamp on or does it require drilling?

It requires drilling... It works very well...the solenoid retracts the bolt upon opening, it remains retracted for about 3 seconds until it is released, the same happens upon the gate being almost closed, it retracts the bolt to latch and then releases it to close... The bolt can not be accessed except by the key provided to manually open the bolt in case of power failure. Can not be "jimmied" open either the whole thing is very solid.
