Issue with CUKUSIN Outboard Motor
I had problems with the initial motor I purchased. The company was very prompt in responding to my inquiry regarding the problem. They sent me a new motor at no cost. If I need a motor in the future, I'll order it from them. I was very impressed with the customer service and will recommend the company to anyone needing a boat motor. I don't get this kind of service with many companies I deal with When I have warranty issues. It's refreshing to deal with a company that quickly addresses issues to my satisfaction.

Cukusin
Basically a noisy troll motor, and in no way shape or form it's a 4 horsepower motor, I would return it if I didn't have to go through all the b******* of shipping it back. On a 75 degree day seem to run a little hot not sure how it will hold up in the summer time but it would probably be okay for small lakes or ponds in cooler areas of you don't mind traveling slower than electric trolling motor with the sound of a weed eater blasting in your ear. I would not recommend it

Great concept at a non-ridiculous price point
My CUKUSIN Outboard Motor Boat Engine quit running so I contacted support. My friends at support were basically aghast and rush shipped the part to me which was a breeze to install. I just put the motor back up a few minutes ago and it's running like a top again.I want to mention something here. The design of the CUKUSIN Outboard Motor is relatively simple. In the event something breaks they have a website and first class support. My son and a friend from church came over and we had a pleasant visit while fixing the problem. I use it on a Sundolphin 8.5 foot pond prowling boat.

Observations Thus Far
I received this item today and assembled it with the instructions provided. Packaging was good, no damage anddelivery was a day earlier than estimated. As others have mentioned, the propeller is some type of cast metal and motor comes with a tool kit, propeller guard, shear pins, extra screws wrenches, allen keys etc. The first thing I noticed was the on/off switch was installed upside down on the J shaped throttle handle. No biggie really, it was held on by one screw so simple fix to reposition. It is one of those things though that makes you wonder about thoroughness of quality control in other perhaps more critical areas. Time will tell I suppose. The instructions, which are in English, were fair for the most part but provided no detail I could find on type of gear lube for the propeller gear box (lower unit). The gearbox does appear to have a fill/drain screw so I sent an inquiry to their customer service email asking what lubricant, how much to use, etc in case its not shipped with lube already topped off. (Update: per service tech rep motor is shipped with gearbox lube installed and they answered within just a couple hours of my email). It did take me a minute to attach the J handle to the motor. Seemed the two part clamp was too tight until I applied a fair amount of force to the two halves of the clamp to mate the halves together around the handle. Seems to hold handle position really well once assembled. I bought this motor for pushing a sailboat (approx 750 lbs with people and gear) in and out of mooring and will edit my review after a good sea trial. Update: I used the motor recently. It pushed theboat at 4.2 mph top speed. It did skip intermittently a few times but contacted customer service with the issue and they immediately shipped me a new carburetor.

Best in this price point
I did a lot of research before buying from this vendor, and the quality is likely superior for the following reasons:Metal propeller. Other products have a plastic prop and include a backup one, which is a red flag to mePropeller protector. That seems like a nice add-onAdjustable handle. This upgrade works very well.4-stroke. Allowed on more lakes, less pollution, no mixing oil and gasOther reviews mentioned customer service, I had a question and they answered promptly and thoroughlyIt is also taller than some other engines in the same price rangeNothing has broken and it runs great so far! It's definitely a budget product, so I don't expect it to work as well as a $1000 Honda motor, but it gets the job done!Edit after a summer of (ab)use: The propeller protector broke off. The engine also randomly skips or sputters, so I'm guessing it just needs to get tuned up or something, which I won't do. I literally dumped this engine in the water a few times and it still runs fine. The throttle spring is now loose so sometimes the engine won't slow down completely.Overall it's very reliable and won't break down, which is very nice to have with a four-stroke in this price range. If you aren't as concerned about reliability, you could look for a similar price range for a used four-stroke that would require more maintenance, and probably give better performance. If you want something cheap and reliable with almost zero maintenance, this is your motor. It's so nice to have this new reliable motor that's cheap enough to not worry if I destroy it.

Cheep motor, MOUNTAINS OF PAPER WORK.
While the motor is cheep and other customers have had mixed experiences, I ran into the problem of not being able to locate the serial number on the motor & the phone number listed on cukusin's website goes straight to voicemail and no one answers. The motor did not come with a manufacture statement of origin nor a signed bill of sale which are both needed to be registered in the state of Texas. I now how to go through a bunch of paperwork, provide proof I did my best to contact the manufacture, get a signed affidavit, and even more paperwork to get this chinese motor legally registered.Keep these things in mind if you are looking at this motor. Edit: I've been contacted via email and being mailed all the paperwork i asked for. I will update it to 3 stars and will give more feedback when I get to use the motor
