I bought them for algae control in my bird baths. I'll have to wait and see how they work with that. But, if you're buying these for ornamental purposes or some other purpose, I can say that they were very well packaged with a plastic protective coating on both sides of each disk. The surface of each disk was well polished with no scratches and the thickness was as advertised. Very good value for the money. Well, it's been several months and they do nothing for algae control. They are well made and thick, so if you're buying them for ornamental purposes, they're still a great buy.

I had read putting copper Penny's in a birdbath they would control the alge. Pre 1982 penny’s had apx 80% + - copper content. I have 3 birdbaths . It worked a little BUT the crows would steal them from one bath to another. Little rascals. I got the 4pk of these 4” diameter 99.99% copper disks. I cleaned all 3 baths (which I didn’t do with the pennies). The water has stayed clear for a few days and I know the crows can’t lift them. I could be wrong. “Heckle & Jeckle” are a clever pair. Happy with this purchase and would recommend .

I'm now wondering which advice is correct. It seems copper disks have been used for a long to time to keep birdbaths algae/moss-free, but, after I bought several, I read an AI printout that said copper is harmful to birds. All I can say is I'm hoping if I keep the birdbath rinsed out, the copper won't build to a toxic level, but will help hold down green buildup.
