Swivel connectors, the perfect solution
These Baluster Swivel Connectors were perfect for our situation.There are plenty DYI YouTube videos showing people busting out nailed in balusters, removing a couple nails, drilling into the stringer, and installing new metal balusters. This method was not possible for us. Our old wooden balusters were installed with screws coming up from under the stringer, so we could not drill down into the stringer, and we were not going to rip the whole staircase apart.Thank goodness I found these!After we cut away the old balusters, we used a Dremel and cut off the screw ends. I was then able to punch the remaining part of the screws down in to the stringer and use these swivel connectors to mount my new metal balusters.I am so happy with the results! These are perfect for handrails assembled like ours, and either angled or flat shoes fit right over them. Great product.

Too much work filing
Even with filing the inside of a half inch hollow ballasts inserting the connector was troublesome. Ok for straight ballasts but not for spiral or decorative. Too much filing for connectors to fit uniformaly.

Product did not work and the return window has closed. This part DOES NOT accept 1/2" square blasters. Do not buy this part.

Connectors don’t swivel
Trying to complete stair project with these connectors. I’ve ordered 3 times 70 or more. I have sent back 60+ twice that don’t budge. Not even if u spray wd40 on them.

I ended up having to modify my balusters to fit these but not that big a deal
These were exactly what I had hoped they would be - they don't feel cheap. Solid metal. They came well packed. They don't include the allen key for the set screw so make sure you have one the correct size I did have to modify my balusters so they would slide into these shoes - but that's more my problem than anything!The set screw locked them down tight and I got the finished product I wanted

One of the strengths of Amazon is that you can find unusual items that you need that can be delivered quickly. This is the case with these baluster shoes. They are well made and 100% right for the job and delivered next day.
