Bedford Clock Collection Classic Chiming Wall Clock with Swinging Pendulum, Golden Oak

use fresh batteries! After about three months, the pendulum stop swinging. I replaced the batteries with semi had on hand. The pendulum worked, but it wouldn’t keep time. And then obtained brand new batteries and The pendulum is working now and it is keeping good time again. When it arrived, putting fresh batteries into it made it chime 6 O’clock. so I set the clock to 6 o’clock and put the batteries in it at 6 o’clock and everything synced up. Nothing I did made it understand am-pm cycles. so I turn the volume down on the chime so that it wouldn’t disturb sleep. the chimes emulate a grandfather clock. it does have four chime modes. We picked just chime on the hour. Which it does chime bit slow like a grandfather clock. I wish it would chime on the half hour. Seems to be working good.

Clock is on the wall and running smoothly. The new clock matches our new flooring recently installed. The clock is pretty and seems to be well made.

I don't know how the person who sold me this clock had the nerve to send it in the condition it is in. The clock seems ok and it runs because I have an extra pendulum which is still a little long for the clock but they sent the clock with no pendulm handle and the circle part of the pendulum was in the box all bent up like it was run over by a car. I will test the clock before return time runs out and return it if it doesn't work out. I assumed the clock was new until I read the small print on the incoice that it is used. Boy, Some people's kids!!!

Esthetically finished wall-hanging clock, that plays bell sounds during a day, and stays quiet overnight. It's one of those things that adds a special character to my home. Unlike those expensive mechanical clocks, this one is set and forget, at least until a battery replacement is needed. Setting of hourly bell is easy; manually adjust the hour and minutes to the actual time. Than wait until a minute arm hits the 12 o'clock number. Than press the set button as many times, as the current hour time is at the moment. You can set the clock to stay quiet overnight. But if it continues to ring, advance the time by 12 hours forward to make sure that the clock's day and night times are synchronized with the actual. I bought the lightly finished clock. But I wish, it was just a little darker. It cannot be stained or repainted, not easily as it is varnished with a polyurethane clear paint. Overall, a great addition to my home.

The Bedford Classic Chime Wall Clock case is nicely crafted and we loved the light walnut color...BUT it was DOA. We changed batteries 3 times (12 batteries) and the pendulum swung, however, the minute sweep would not work. Called the Bedford help line--total waste of time (customer support was less than stellar); instructed to change batteries and call Amazon.com if not resolved. Didn't feel like installing a 4th set of batteries so we requested an Amazon.com return and it was immediately approved with an excellent free return grace period of approximately 60 days. Thank you Amazon.com! Update: "IT'S ALIVE"...getting the box ready to pack the Bedford when I heard a chime--the Bedford came back to life...perhaps it's a Walking Dead Zombie Clock :]. Decided to keep it for now and see if survives the next few weeks. I upgraded my rating to 3 stars based on the initial DOA, battery changes, wasted phone call to Bedford's less than stellar customer service. Notified Amazon.com customer service--typical outstanding support cancelling the replacement and refund.
