Q: i am over 300 pounds and want to know what the weight limit is. thanks

I don't technically know what the weight limit is but both my husband and I can stand on it (220 + 160) so you are probably ok. I see there are more specific answers to your question already, but just wanted to note that we are happy with it - it is solid and feels very secure.

Q: I have seen a number of reviews complaining of a strong rubber smell and the difficulty of removing that odor. What was your experience?

Yes, the stool did have a very strong rubber smell when I got it (Feb. 2013). I stored it in our garage for about 4 months and then wiped down the rubber tread a few times with soap and water. The smell lessened but it was still there. Eventually I had to use the stool for my mom and now keep it in her room. At first the room had the smell but over time it lessened. After about 6 or 7 months the smell was not noticeable. Also, you need to make sure that you have your foot on the step before leaning on the handle otherwise the handle has no counterweight and it will tilt downwards with the step tilting upwards. You may lose your balance.

Q: Everyone talks about the non skid platform, how about the legs. It will be used on tile floor. Will it slide?

The legs have rubber tips that seem to have very good gripping properties. We use it on finished concrete flooring at times with good results.

Q: Is this platform actually 15 x 17? I'm sending one back from this listing. It's 11 x 14 unless yours is different.

Where legs are: Width: 15 inches Depth: 17 inches . Platform part you step on is 11 x 14.
