Excellent no-frills rollers
Pros:--This set has 3 sizes of rollers, which makes it very versatile, an excellent adjunct to another set - and also a good starter set for those new to hot rollers.--The rollers are hollow and get hot by being placed on heated metal rods which stick up from the base. It's simple and straightforward.(Many roller sets need to be aligned and pushed in place so the elements can make their necessary contacts. If you don't get them in correctly, the rollers don't get hot - not an issue with this set.)--These rollers get hotter as they sit on the base. Once your find your groove, know how hot you need your rollers to be, you can use this to your advantage by unplugging the unit when they reach your desired temp. (Though you'll have to do this by time/feel - there are no indicators on the rollers. If you leave them too long, they may feel too hot.)--I like that these have a hard plastic finish, (not flocked or velvety), and that they have little spiky nodes. The barrels are continuous, (no wedge cut-outs) and very light-weight.--The set comes with pins to secure them in place. Once you get the hang of the pins, they're easy to use and require less storage space than clips. (This is a good thing for me. Some folks prefer the clips.) The only bad thing about these pins is that it's easy to get them mixed up - while they are marked in different colors to indicate the size roller for which they are intended, those colors aren't distinct enough.(It's really frustrating to grab the wrong pin when you've got that roller exactly in place.) Just be sure to put the pins in size-piles before you start rolling...--Everything stores away neatly in the heating case.--You can buy extra clips & rollers directly from Conair - (last pic is from booklet with ordering info)Cons:--There is no on/off switch. You must unplug the base in order to turn off the curlers. (There is, however, an indicator light, which is good.)--Melting the curlers is a real risk, especially if you forget to unplug the base. The posts do get very hot and while they do an awesome job of heating the curlers, it seems that extended contact to the elements might not be a good thing.(I've left mine fully heated for about 45 minutes with no melting problems - but the curlers were uncomfortable to handle when on the base for that long.)--This set doesn't have "ion technology" or ceramic cores... or whatever the latest & greatest is in hot rollers... If this is important to you, look elsewhere. (I'm not troubled by that - I don't use rollers every day and I take care to use a thermal protectant spray on my hair when I do use them. My hair is soft, healthy and not impacted by the absence of the technology.)--If you wish to use all of one size, you probably won't have enough curlers in this set. I like to use the larger ones on the top of my head and medium or small on the sides, depending on how tight I want the curls. (But I always want the top to be a little looser...) That being stated, at this price point, it's a great way to try a few sizes and see what works for you.Overall:This is a terrific product. As with any item that generates heat, care must be taken to ensure that it is turned off when not in use. It's a no-frills curler set and it does it's job well. The curlers don't have individual components inside, which makes them reliable and lightweight - they're hot when I need them to be and a full head of curlers doesn't weigh as much it does when using the higher-tech ones.I use these in conjunction with the Calista Tools Ion Hot Rollers Long Style Set 12 Base - (I really like those too!) Combining these two sets frees up the large rollers (in this set) for days that want a more "beachy" look. (The two sets compliment each other nicely.)

Have had this same set for over a decade! Never fails!
If you have thick, long hair then consider buying 2 of these. I've had the original one I purchased in 2006 and it's still going strong! However, whenever I'd grow my hair past my shoulders I would find I needed to use smaller sections of hair, as the rollers can only hold so much weight. So now I decided to purchase a second set off of amazon. Such a great product. The key is to make sure you roll each section in a different direction, and also stagger the sizes throughout your head. (For example: Too many small curlers in the front looks odd when paired with only large curlers in the back.) You have to give them a good 20 minutes to get really hot. Once the rollers are in, I suggest leaving them in your hair for minimum 45 mins-hour. Even if they feel cool to the touch, I find that I have better results when hair is left in the rollers for 1-2 hours. Yes, this requires planning in advance but is necessary. For beginners, once ready to take out, start taking out the bottom rollers in the back of your head. If you take out the ones on top, your hair will be getting in the way as you take the rest out! If you brush your hair after using these, it'll likely be curly but will POOF. If that's your desired look, then go for it. However I find it better to refrain from using combs, brushes, etc and using hands only to style. Immediately once I take rollers out I LIGHTLY spritz with some hairspray. I find the cheaper brands work better (Think: Suave). Again it's just a misting of hairspray, make sure you hold it far away and not too close or you'll get globs of hairspray that weigh the hair down. I find if I do not spray hair right away, the curls don't hold as long. I have also tried lightly misting hairspray while hair is still in the rollers, however I find that it makes the rollers messy (dried hairspray to clean off them!) and also it doesn't evenly mist all the hair (only the sections exposed in the roller get sprayed). So you can try that but be warned you may not get the desired outcome. It is very important to spray your hair once styled and out of the rollers. For whatever reason my hair frizzes BADLY if I forget this important step after using heat rollers. Keep in mind, you may need a curling iron to help tame a few curls that didn't curl perfectly in the rollers. I find these rollers make your hair look so nice whether you're wearing hair down or want some nice curls added to your ponytail. They're a great product and relatively inexpensive. I paid about $20 for the rollers nearly 14 years ago, so I'd say even at Amazon's price all these years later, this is still a great value :)

Good quality rollers, but results vary by hair type
These hot rollers are well-made, heat up quickly, and are very easy to use. I appreciated how evenly they warmed and how secure the clips felt while holding them in place. The set also has a nice variety of roller sizes, which gives you some flexibility when styling. That said, while the product worked exactly as described, the end result just wasn’t my personal favorite for my hair type. The curls held, but the finish wasn’t quite the look I was going for. Someone with a different texture or length may get results they love, so it really comes down to personal preference.Overall, I think this is a reliable and well-built tool that does what it promises — it just may not give the exact style everyone wants depending on their hair.

Not very hot
These worked on my hair! So thrilled! First time using I was so disappointed that the rollers didn't get very hot. I just knew it was wasted time and effort. Surprise! The curl was perfect and lasted almost all week without getting oily like it does when I straighten. Used them for the second time and they seemed hotter this time. Same great curls. Ordering a second set as my hair gets longer. I barely made it all over my head and my hair is collor bone length.

Mine died on me about 3 months ago. I had it and used it a lot for 60 yrs. Hard to believe it lasted that long. This is a good fit for me. Love it!!
