May not look like much but it's got it where it counts.
I had bought a different AV to HDMI converter, but saw this one which came without need for a power source (something of a rarity among AV to HDMI converters it seems). I ordered both to see which was better. Initially both presented similar quality, and issues (excessive colour shadow/blur on "highlighted" objects), albeit the Kaico did allow for a switch between 4:3 and 16:9 via the switch on the converter. However, once I restarted and opted for 50hz instead of 60hz at the initial startup screen I noticed a marked improvement. All blur and shadow was gone, there remained some mild scanlines but nothing egregious and only really bothersome if you're a foot from the TV.Overall quite pleased with the unit, particularly given it does not require the AV cable to be present, nor a dedicated power supply, which seems to be the case for many of the other options available. Admittedly the price is more than double many others, but given the cost saving over time of not needing a second active plug, I think it's worth the extra money. Also much simpler to setup with simple plug and play.

A must for retro game consoles
Bought for my son who has a GameCube. We were unable to access the back of the TV hence needing to purchase this. Very easy to use, just plug in and no set up required. Picture and sound quality was great. A little overpriced but it did the job. Highly recommend!

So far not good.
So far I’ve tested it on my SNES and N64. I use a Sony Bravia telly. For the SNES, colours were terrible, the picture was slightly less blurry but the whole playing experience was bad due to the bad colours. For the N64, the picture quality didn’t look any sharper and it had a bad wobble to it.I tried 2 SNES consoles and 3 N64 consoles, 3 different HDMI cables and both HDMI ports on my telly.I just have the GameCube left to try. Not holding out much hope. I’d it works wonders for the GameCube I’ll keep the thing. If not I’ll be returning it.Maybe it’s just TV specific, annoying if it is.

Retro gaming
I set this up for my 1990s Super Nintendo and I could not believe the quality picture I got on my modern tv , I'd have expected this quality from a higher priced product but this £20 accessory is amazing. I'm blown away , now I can play all my retro titles in full HD. I'd fully recommend to anyone one wanting to set up there retro gaming consoles.

Works but too bright
Got this for my Gamecube. It works which is good, but like others mention it makes things too bright and doesn't look so good.

Was sceptical but this one definitely works!
So far so good… I think I need to invest in a quality HDMI cable to avoid a few intermittent bad connections, but having read other reviews about these converters generally giving bad colours, simply not working, or having bad response time etc… I am pleased to say this unit works superbly. I have never seen the picture so good from the N64, seems to be no latency as far as I can tell, and the unit is plug and play. The switch on the side changes between 4:3 or stretched 16:9… so far been using 4:3 but will try 16:9 on other games.Anyway, pleased to say that the Christmas holidays are saved, I couldnt get the composite video cable to work on the new TV, so this was a bit of a hopeful purchase and I’m very pleased it works. Should have bought one sooner!

Update - now working on N64 with Goldeneye - undocumented switch fixed this
Updated - originally rated 1/5 as was initially absolutely unusable on Goldeneye on the N64 - it was strobing so badly, I genuinely thought I was going to be sick. However, having left a very poor re view and having arranged the return, upon packaging back up I noticed a tiny switch next to the HDMI port. I checked the manual twice but can see no mention of the switch – however, by sliding it across, and trying one last time, I was amazed to see that goldeneye now worked. This little adapter that is allowing me to use my N64 on both a new 55” LG OLED TV, and also a older (10 years), LEDTV from Samsung.Updated to 4 stars as performance is adequate and as good as can reasonably be expected but loses a star for the silly lack of documentation of the switch (I wonder how many get returned because of this?).
