Tedious install but works
November 2023: Works; tedious install (assuming you are careful). I will report back if it fails but so far so good.August 2024: Still works. No issues.

Eventually worked great
Put this part into my 2006 Jetta. It fit right in without a problem. The reason I had to switch it out was because the old original cyilander would not turn. When I fully assembled the ignition and installed the key would go in and turn but would not come out easily. I would have to wiggle the key to get it out. Car would still have battery power. So I would have to wiggle the key a bit more to turn it all the way off. One day I went to turn it on and the key would not turn just like the broken one I just replaced. Then all of a sudden the ignition works like a charm. No more sticking or wiggling. So now everything is okay so far. I have had the part for about 6 months now. Working perfect for the past week.

Perfect replacement
I purchased this to repair a broken lock cylinder on my dad's 2008 Volkswagen Jetta. He was left stranded at a local store when the OEM lock cylinder jammed up and wouldn't allow him to start his car or even unlock the steering or shift lever to move the car from the parking space it was in.I ordered the part with the expectation of next day early morning delivery, which was NOT the case, it was delayed multiple times but did eventually arrive. I had already disassembled the car and removed the factory lock cylinder so I was ready for the replacement when it arrived. The most difficult part of the removal is disconnecting the "harness" below the cylinder because it is a large black box with multiple electrical connection points and a couple of separate latching points with very little information available on how to remove it. After a lot of fiddling I got it out and later found a video explaining that there is a small slot at the front that you can insert a long thin screwdriver or allen key into to release the front clip, and then how to reach in from the back to release the back clip (I recommend searching YouTube thoroughly for these videos before trying this for yourself so you don't break anything). The second difficult thing was swapping the actual Key Cylinder from the original lock cylinder to the new lock cylinder so that I didn't have to replace the key, and recode anything (doorlock/alarm keyfobs) because the original cylinder was locked up and to remove it you must turn it to the "on" position and insert a paperclip into a small hole to unlock the mechanism from the cylinder. In my case, I drilled out a portion of the original lock cylinder where it interfaces with the steering lock mechanism (there is a small round insert in the side and that is where I drilled) and then sprayed it thoroughly with WD40 before working the key back and forth until I was able to get it to finally move. Once the key cylinder was swapped into the new lock cylinder, I installed the new lock cylinder into the car and plugged everything back in, and everything worked like new again.I would recommend this replacement cylinder to anyone having problems with their VW/AUDI lock cylinder. I would suggest that if you have even experienced MINOR problems with an occasional issue of the key getting stuck/not turning or it feels tight/rough, replace it NOW before it leaves you stranded and sticks you with a towing bill!It could take anywhere from one to 4 hours to do the job, depending on your abilities, your tools, and how quickly you work. I recommend taking your time and watching videos on YouTube before/during the whole process.

Non-OEM replacement part for 1k0905851B
This is a replacement part for Audi/VW ignition lock cylinder 1K0905851B and I installed it in an Audi A3 2009. Recently, the key became difficult to turn so I lubricated the lock cylinder, and for a while, it was ok. But a few days ago, the key did not turn at all, and I was unable to start the car. In retrospect, I should have taken the car to the dealer when I first experienced the symptoms. Luckily, this happened in my garage, and rather than towing the car to the dealer, I decided to replace it myself. Normally, I prefer the OEM parts, but I purchased a Dorman window regulator for this car in the past (still working!), so I went with this Dorman lock cylinder. The installation is not simple and a lot of parts have to come off before you have access to this part - I can see why the dealers charge so much. Once the old unit is out, some wires/parts have to be transferred to the new unit. The fit is, as far as I can tell, exact. It took me ~5 hours or so. I am sure I can do it faster now, but my hope is I never need to.

Worked just as good as the OEM part! Well worth it.
Bought this as a replacement for my 2010 VW Jetta ignition housing. OEM part failed as do many others apparently commonly on these cars. Got the part in with a new key tumbler and it has worked great! Much cheaper than the OEM housing as well.

Tight Fit
The part was a little tighter than the OEM part when installing it. However with that said it works just fine.

Best option beside expensive OEM
Dorman is the only trusted brand I could find for this part beside the OEM and less then 1/10th the cost. Hardest part was removing the tamper proof screws. I took a dremel and grooved a slot on the domed head so I could easily assemble/or disassemble, if I had to, using a standard driver. It was a tighter fit going back into turn signal wiper assembly than the OEM, but it fit. I did put a light oil on the movable parts before assembling. This was for my sons car. A shop would have cost in excess of $1200 and this took us a couple hours and was done for $40 bucks. Now that the tamper proof screws have been modified I'm sure we could do the whole job in less than an hour, so even IF the dorman part fails, I'm satisfied with this part in light of how much money it saves us and would purchase again

Good priceand easy to insstall if you know what your doing
bought this not knowing if it would work but it did !!!! I would buy this again if I ever need it again cause VW or Audi will charge you through the nose just to repair your you ignition !!! my quote was like 1,500+ $ just to take this part out and put in a new one you can do it yourself the part alone is over charged by VW and Audi so I'm very happy with this product !!!!
