A Very Good Stud Detector for the Money
I don't do a lot of stud detection with it, but in decorating this summer I used it to know where to put tacks and hang paintings and it works very well. The A/C feature is interesting to detect live wires but I mainly use it go get a general sense of where the electrical lines are. Stud detection-wise though it is spot on and has held up for quite some time!

This works pretty well -- I know because I have new studs next to old ones, and it finds the new ones loud and clear, and then the old ones a few cms away with a bit more flickering. I don't trust it to find the electric, though -- it's signaled some, but probably missed others. Also, this is for the dummies like me -- hold it vertically, not horizontally. I don't know why I did that. The instructions were pretty bad, but maybe they were assuming somebody with common sense was operating it. Go slowly, and don't lean your hand on the wall as you go.

Fairly accurate, though retrys are recommended.
great for the price

Mostly accurate for standard drywall
This stud sensor works great for around the house. It detects studs quickly and the missed studs feature helps increase your accuracy. The AC current detector is also incredibly useful and has saved me from a few nasty shocks. My only complaint is that the sensor often has a hard time locating the side and center of the stud. I have not had the opportunity to try this on thicker walls yet.
