After a disastrous year long struggle with a Brother serger (jammed fabric that needed to be pulled out which apparently resulted in internal damage to serger. Still under warranty but told damaged by user). On research I found out that this is usual for the Brother serger. So, decided to go with Juki, for Japanese quality. And I am not disappointed so far. A beautiful machine that runs perfectly. Feels sturdy and easy to thread. After years of sewing with a Singer sewing machine, a Brother (Overlocker) Coverstitcher, a defunct Brother serger, I am now a total fan of Juki. Wish I had bought this machine a long time ago, saved myself a lot of angst and money.

Would have given 5 stars but I found the last step threading the lower looper difficult. The good news is it comes threaded, so you can just do a tie off and pull threads through. Unfortunately I snaggled the threads up and undid lower looper threading so had to re-thread. Finally watched the Juki video on YouTube since the instruction book didn't really make it clear. Got it threaded, more by accident than skill, and started using the machine. Sews a beautiful 4 thread overlock, am playing with other setting settings over the next few weeks. Runs pretty quietly, and like the built in accessories storage in the front panel. Am happy with the machine.

I'd been wanting a serger for years (decades?) and had never broke down and bought one. being home nearly 100% of the time during COVID-19, started to looking at serger options again. I spent a number of weeks looking at various options and felt this Juki machine was a great mix of features and price. I've had this now just over a month and to get used to the various stitch options, I got RGBY threads and made samples of all the stitches described in the manual. Following that, I've so far left it on a three thread (right needle, top, bottom) and have made about 50 child sized masks for the local county who is collecting children's masks for low income families. Curves are a bit more involved than a traditional sewing machine, but expect that is nothing specific to this machine, as much as sergers overall. otherwise, it has been awesome and without issue. the seller (SewVacDirect in TX) also was great and had this here according to the estimated time amazon listed!
