Intense. Unexpected. Thrilling. A must read.
You've got my attention, Penelope Douglas. The woman who to me, set the gold standard for bully books with the Fall Away series, is back with what is one of the most intense and refreshing books I've ever read in that sub-genre. I started off not having the patience for Clay and her harsh and mean girl ways. I almost put it down thinking I might and I do mean might get back to it. But once I started to get a sense of the raw feelings both she and Olivia had for one another down deep, I settled in for what turned out to be one intense and extraordinary ride.Only Douglas, as others have said before me, could get me to fully enjoy a true F/F romance. I have no outward craving for that kind of love story but this book became so much more than that. It's the ongoing battle between the haves and have nots and the temptation to cross those tracks into a world that is both foreign and unsure. And that goes for both Clay as the ruling princess of her tony high school and for Liv, as the misunderstood lacrosse superstar when the want for the other finally comes to light and threatens everything they have each come to know. The rivalries are fierce in this small town in Florida and the heat that is on a constant simmer is not just because of the weather. The secrets are immense and Liv and her brothers clearly have their pulse on the true nature of their very much divided community and it's a race against time as to when those might come to light or if they will be chips in the constant world of negotiation with those who forever seek revenge. The true thread between Liv and Clay is the loneliness they each feel no matter their status in life. Showing that once again, money and popularity do not necessarily provide the comfort you seek in matters of the heart. Their battles are epic as the hate begins to morph into a desperate need for one another, both realizing they have never been able to ignore the other no matter the circumstance. Talk about enemies to more. Liv and Clay wrote the book! But their passion, once unleashed, is a thing of beauty and the emotions running through both of them provide for one very unexpected and uncertain journey. This lengthy story is filled with extremely memorable characters, whether or not they were likable or not. They showcased the vast differences and the surprising similarities between them as they all maneuver through a very trying year. Liv's brothers are stand-outs each and every time they are on the page and I can only hope we get more of their lives of hardship and pain since they all have stories to tell. Clay for as much as I loathed her through a good part of this book, showed extreme courage in finding the guts to live the life she truly wanted, showing that in spite of her wealth, she had it in her to ultimately do the right thing. And that includes making sure Liv is hers and hers alone.I will add that the sex scenes were erotic and made my heart beat much faster than I could have ever predicted. The chemistry is off the charts incredible and their banter goes from touching to rough in a NY minute and it simply works. For both of them. The shyness each portrays when they are so unsure of what the other might be wanting or thinking was sweet. And trust me, there is not much of that when it comes to this author and her well-crafted storylines, so to say I enjoyed and appreciated those fleeting moments gladly is an understatement. All in all, this book came as a complete surprise to me as I went in blind and despite my early misgivings, am beyond happy I continued on. Liv and Clay fought hard for what they wanted and when the dust finally settled after all the collisions of their hearts and souls that left them a bit battered and torn, finding your person is all that truly matters. The rest is just noise.Happy to have taken the chance with this author once again, I am thrilled to give Tryst Six Venom a huge 5+ stars.

Intense enemies to lovers bully F/F romance!
• 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 •𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: Tryst Six Venom𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿: Penelope Douglas𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆ 4/5Let’s start out with the fact that this my first 18+ F/F romance and I really liked it! The beginning was a bit slow for me and it took me some time to connect to the characters. Bully romances can be a hit or miss with me. And this one was a bit in between, there where things I loved about the bully aspect, but it could be pretty harsh at times and sometimes that just is not for me. If you like a harsh and intense bully romance, you’ll probably absolutely LOVE LOVE this book. I think that one of the strong parts of this book was the connection between the main characters. They have this amazing push and pull… and from the start it is just fireworks! It also takes some time before these characters really give into each other, but once they do…. Amazing! I liked the fact that the characters are complex and very layered, it made the book even more interesting. The writing was really good as well. Do be aware because this book mentions some serious topics and was a bit violent at times. I think this book is perfect for those who are looking for an intense enemies to lovers bully F/F romance!

I almost messed up ...
I am going to start with full transparency here. I DNF'ed this a bunch of times, I was not in the right headspace when I initially tried, and let me say, headspace is everything for this one. If it weren't for my girlfriend bringing up how much she loves it every chance she got (at least weekly ), I probably wouldn't have jumped back into it anytime soon. That would have been an absolute travesty because it is now one of my FAVORITE books.Ok, this is my second read / listen. I am still at a loss on how to put into words all the feelings... Please bear with me on this one.So, we've got a rich, "straight", popular socialite with internalized homophobia, who bullies the gay girl from the wrong side of the tracks. That's what most see. But this is SO much more.I am not going to sugarcoat it, Clay is downright obnoxious for a good majority of the book. She is dealing with a lot of issues; namely, the loss of a little brother which has splintered her family. Dad is never around and she feels like she's constantly under the weight of her mother's (and Grandmother's) expectations of her to be the perfect daughter/woman for society and to preserve their public image. More importantly, she is struggling with self-acceptance and her carnal desire for Liv, so she takes out her frustration, anger, and confusion on the one person she wants around more than anything. She's a bully to Olivia, and easy to hate at a glance. But from the get-go, you can tell that there is something between them that only they can sense, even if they can't name or admit it.Now don't be fooled into thinking that Liv is some kind of saint. Yes, her home life with her brothers is a hell of a lot better and more supportive (though maybe a little more criminal and generally rowdy.) She knows who she is and is at peace with her sexuality. Liv gives just as good as she gets when it comes to Clay, and she never backs down. You might think some bullying and inequality would be hard no's for Olivia Jeager. You might wonder, "What in the world would make Liv want Clay Collins???"Well, for one thing, they may be unequal in society, but they are equal in the ways that really matter: Willpower, strength, determination, self-confidence, intelligence, ruthlessness, etc.And for another thing... Olivia admits in the book that she loves em' like that."I can't help it. I like crazy. She can be fire or ice, I don't care. I just need her to be one of them. And even better if she's both." - Olivia Jaeger, Tryst Six VenomThey are both broken. Both are vicious— mentally and physically. But they crave each other on a whole other level. Their intensity generates a strong current of emotions that the reader gets swept up in around chapter 7. And you get dragged along, realizing with each chapter that Clay and Liv really were made to complete each other. These two are ... Argh, everything and then some! The possessiveness - touch-her-and-die vibes, and obsession for each other, along with their secret hookups are explosive. The angst, the raw emotions, depth, and all-consuming hate-love that crosses all boundaries... It all just hits so hard that you will find yourself drowning in feelings right along with them. This is where I think some struggle, it is a powerful story and that can be overwhelming. And at first, some of the bullying in the first 6 chapters can be a deterrent but don't let it be! The bullying and hate speech are only powerful because it's just their longing for each other masked and redirected in the worst way possible. ...If that makes any sense.Sigh, They are just perfectly imperfect for each other.Ok, I have had to remove so much because I was getting all swoony over here and making no real point besides I love this book lol, so let's wrap it up with a little warning.TSV is not for everyone, and that is totally ok. If you are after a super sweet romance where they woo each other with sweet nothings, this is definitely not for you. This book, like all PD’s books, does not hold back or brush over some disturbing moments, not even for a second, if anything, it leans into them unapologetic.I can not stress this enough, Know your triggers! You and you alone are responsible for them so make sure to check all CW/Triggers before diving into this book.CW / Triggers:Abuse (Psychical / Emotional / Mental / Sexual)Bullying (Extreme / Psychical / Emotional / Mental)Body ShamingEating DisorderHomophobia (Including Internalized)Suicide (off-page, not related to the MCs)Violence (Psychical / Mental / Sexual)Sexual AssaultDeath (off-page - Parent / Sibling)

Hot!!! Omg I loved this book so much.
“I was just angry.Jealous. I want her, I can’t have her and I’m angry that I can’t have her. So I take it out on her. “TW: Suicide, sexual assault,Tryst Six Venom is Penelope Douglas’ very first F/F romance and I have been DYING to get my hands on it ever since she announced it. I had super HIGH expectations,as there is a lack of good NA F/F books and I devoured this! I absolutely loved this book with my whole soul!High school bully romance, enemies to lovers, female x female romance, all of these tropes are my favourites!Clay Collins is a bully that you can’t help but love, she’s fierce, bold and angry. She was the perfect type of female bully, her words could definitely cut deep. A spoiled beautiful rich girl that seems to have it all, but I’m reality there is so much more to her. I really loved her character development.Olivia Jaeher the girl from the wrong side of the track, she is so strong with a bit of a wild side. She is the outcast at school, the loner with no friends, all because she likes girls.“I live for her, an enemy I never wanted to defeat. A fight I never wanted to end.”I really enjoyed there chemistry! All there interactions were intense and complex. Of course because this is NA there are some steamy scenes. This entire book was so well done!

She did it again!

Not what it seems to be...
I just finished the book and I love it.Yes it's started with a bully-story, but shortly you can see that the bully is due to feelings, a young girl can handle. Clay doesn't now how or what here feelings for Liv are, but she seems to know they're deep - instead to be friendly and open up Clay denies everything and hurt what she want.I don't apologise for bullies, I can't stand them.In this story I understand Clay. She doesn't now how to handle her feelings and felt under a lot of pressure (mostlikely from herself as it reveals) and the constant thought, that she can't be gay cause she has to be perfect. To be truth, I can understand her. I've been at a similar spot emotionally and can't say I acted otherwise. Not so harsh, but you know...It's the way to grow up. To learn what's important for one self and who we want to be. That also counts for Liv. She always hang on her plan to leave, to get through the day and she also felt that's there something else behind Clays behavior. That's no excuse for thr treatment she got from her. Right from the beginning, she is a stronger person than I expected and she gets stronger. And she is rights. Everyone has something behind his actions and for that it's good to have secrets known.I love the story, how Olivia and Clay develop, how they fight insecurities in a world, that devide throught status and expectations. This is a masterpeace by Penelope, too. Can't wait to reread it sometime and I look forward to new stories to come.
