Just ordered a new pair after seven winters
I like these mittens a lot. The thumb opens as well as the fingers for fine manual work. But also, the leather patches on the palm, thumb, and fingers allow for a good grip, so I can keep the mittens closed while driving or carrying heavy objects.I found the velcro closures annoying, so I used a stitch ripper to remove them. They seemed pretty solidly attached, so even with the stitch ripper this took a bit of work. I suppose they probably wouldn't fall off by themselves for a good long time.On the downside, as others have noted, only the finger cap has fleece lining and insulation. The thumb cap and the hand are just plain wool (and leather, but that doesn't help for warmth). My thumbs feel pretty cold while wearing these on the coldest winter days. Also, I noticed the tint of the leather bleeding into the wool a little bit. I expect that washing them on the gentle cycle before wearing them in rain or snow would help prevent that.

Disappointed
I bought these to replace a pair that I bought at a local retailer - I love the gloves, they don’t carry them anymore, and I wanted a backup. The original pair fit great, are durable and super warm. The new gloves (this order) fit poorly (thumbs and finger covers are an inch too long) and are poor quality (already have a hole in one thumb after less than a month).

Work well--good for photographers.
I wore these for a week while photographing some national parks in the southwest in December. Overall, they worked well and kept my hands and fingers warm in single-digit temps. Glomitts are especially useful for photography because the wearer can expose the thumb and forefinger as needed, which is helpful with DSLR controls. Keeping the four fingers together helps keep them warmer than each finger being in a glove. Inserting a chemical heat pack into the finger section helps keep them extra toasty. Some reviewers complained that the gloves do not block wind. I was skeptical when I read this, but there is some truth there. In a light breeze, no problem. However, you can feel a stronger breeze leak into the glomitts if you don't keep them shielded from the wind. In part, this is the reality of having a fold-over that can't be completely sealed. It wasn't a deal-killer for me. Also, these are not for making snowballs. Wool retains heat when wet, but these are not made for that kind of activity.Overall, I was very pleased with these.

What was represented was not received.
I would like to return/exchange these, but they were a gift for my husband and he says not to bother. The problem is that these rather expensive "glommits" were supposed to have several layers of warmth with a nice, soft fleece lining. What we received was a pair of plain rag wool glove/mitten, with a leather palm, but there was NO fleece lining, NO Thinsulate insulation... just wool. They aren't particularly scratchy so that's not the problem, they're certainly wearable, but they were supposed to have both a fleece lining PLUS Thinsulate insulation and they have none of that. I paid too much ($35) for plain rag wool mittens. I am disappointed, that's all.

Love these
This is my third pair of these mittens - I absolutely love them. I hate wearing gloves. It makes it hard to get my metrocard out of my wallet or use my phone while I'm on the subway (yes, I could take them off to do these things, but that gets annoying when you're carrying a lot, and smartphone gloves are still gloves, so I still don't like wearing them). BUT, I have Raynauds, so my hands are always freezing, even when NYC isn't in the middle of a polar vortex. These are perfect. Super warm, surprisingly cute (I get compliments on them all the time), and I can't recommend them enough. They're pretty rugged too, but I spill coffee on them all the time so they usually look pretty grungy after a few seasons and I buy a new pair. One note - there's a little velcro square to hold the flap open and I find it pretty ugly so I always pull the stitches out and remove it. It's very simple, and once it's off you'll never know it was there.

These mittens were made in China!!!
I had to repair the stitching in two different places on one of the mittens. Once I did that the mitten seemed to be just fine.In the advertisement there was no indication the mittens were made in China!!! Once I got the mittens, on the label , it clearly said “Made in China”. Had I known they were made in China, I wouldn’t have purchased them!!! I would have looked elsewhere!

Deceptive marketing on Thinsulate and fleece lining
I like these gloves. For what I paid they're quite nice - even at the regular price I don't feel like they're a bad deal. However, calling these "Thinsulate" and "fleece lined" is deceptive. The glove body itself is not lined with anything. Only the mitten cap that goes over your fingers has a lining. See my pictures of the inside out glove and cap. I can appreciate an unlined wool glove. And thus it receives 3 stars from me for being a decent glove. It loses 2 stars for the deception.Another thing to note is that the fingers are not separated like they are on some other fingerless gloves. The fingers are isolated by stitching but it's not separate sleeves of wool for your fingers.

Glove flap fell off first time using them.

Looks better in the pictures than actual
Looks better in the pictures than actual. No lining in the palm or back of the hand. Allows wind to travel through the fabric. Hands get cold in windy conditions
