Lonely Planet Ireland 15 (Travel Guide)

We will be traveling to Ireland in a few weeks. You absolutely need this book. Yes, you can google and get reviews, but this is an essential guide for preparation and mapping out where you want to go. Especially, if you are not taking a trip with a coach. It gives great ideas and secrets that you may not know about. I have put tabs in areas if interest. Also, it is a good book to show you how to get from one place to the other, and how to save money.

Lonely Planet is generally my go-to travel guide. For this trip I tried some of the more highly rated books, but returned them and went back to Lonely Planet. I am familiar with the way it is organized, I appreciate the amount of background information and I find their information very reliable. Lonely Planet is also great at off the beaten path suggestions. Other books devote more space to hotels and restaurants, but there is more and better information about those things on line. Also anything mentioned in a guide book is going to be overpacked with tourists. Knowing what to expect in different places and parts of town is very useful for booking places on line and looking for restaurants. And do take The Lonely Planet's advice to always order the fish and seafood if you are anywhere near the coast.

Another nice Lonely Planet book - covers all the tourist hot spots as well as the off-track points of interest. Good comments throughout, with a frankness that makes it better than a tourist brochure.

Spent 3 weeks in Ireland last month and used this book frequently for exploring both northern and Southern Ireland. Breathtakingly beautiful. Being disabled and wheelchair bound I found the Irish people unbelievably helpful and very friendly.I’ve traveled many countries and Ireland had the most friendly and helpful residents. Beautiful, can’t wait to go back there😄

Love the lonely planet series! It made looking up facts easy and gave good ideas to do more research on while traveling!

This book is great at giving background on how to travel around Ireland but it hasn’t been updated since 2020. Many places are permanently closed post COVID.
