I ordered this after asking about the ice packs at my PT place. I have another clay pack which I still use after several years (and too many injuries). This is much more flexible. I wrap it over my knee and it stays really cold for as long as I can stand it, usually 15 minutes max. I may order the larger version to go around my knee completely. I think the oil is the reason that it's so flexible. The ice packs at the PT place are fluffier, but this pack is just as flexible and the price is reasonable. I have other gel packs and they are pretty stiff to somewhat flexible. This is my first choice.

Seems to be good. It's just plain black on both sides,unlike the photo. Mine did not have any instructions printed on it like the one online nor were there any instructions inside the box? Unsure if mine can be used for heat also?

I used an ice pack nearly identical to this at my chiropractor's office. I asked him about it and he said "it's filled with clay" and showed it to me. Although his were covered with felt (which he noted tends to release over time), it's almost identical to these FOMI ice packs. I came home, did some quick checking, and found these at the FOMI store on Amazon, and I ordered one that day.Unlike hard pure-ice packs, these stay pliable (rather than trying to use what's basically a "rock" of ice and position it and have to hold it in place) and unlike the gel or bead-filled packs, they stay cold for a very long time.You *must* cover them with a towel before using them, though, because they stay so cold for so long.I highly recommend this for those looking for a good ice-pack to help with muscle or joint pain.

It works, but give it time. It takes time if you've been suffering for some time.

These clay ice packs stay colder longer. I have a chronic neck/back issue that requires ice following traction. Today, the clay pack split on the side & the horrible black clay oozed out & got on EVERYTHING.The packs are excellent, until they fail. This one is unsalvageable.

I thought I'd try the clay versus the ice packs. I don't think it is as cold as the ice. It is much heavier which hurt the area where surgery was. I tried using it as a heated pad (5 weeks after surgery), it worked better that way but is still alot of weight on the injured area.

The pack was ordered to take down the swelling of a broken shoulder and it performs very well. The first pack received had a tiny hole and the clay was escaping. This was replaced immediately and the new pack seems fine.

Performs as advertised-- COLD, place in freezer; HOT, place in micro-wave. I have what is likely a torn rotator cuff, the pain being of such intensity that I went to Amazon, and besides this purchase, identified 3 shoulder supports that might be of assistance-- with a little investigation, happy to report the shoulder supports also work as advertised. In particular, I would point out the VISTERY shoulder brace which works "hand-in-glove" with the FoMI shoulder brace, as there is an interior sleeve where the Clay Therapy Pack may be placed. ANOTHER ADVANTAGE to the FoMI products: I have found they hold their "charge"-- Hot or Cold-- for up to 2-hours. Anyone in the market for this type of therapy, it would be my suggestion to buy a couple of the CLAY PACKS for substitution purposes.
