The Best "Bang" for Your "Buck" in a Dive Light
I just purchase my second Orca Torch D550 dive light after having my first one for well over a year. I needed a backup dive light, and considered alternatives, but decided that another Orca Torch D550 was the way to go since I have had such good luck with my first one. I have to say that this has been the most reliable, easiest to use and best value dive light I have owned in over thirty years of diving. You cannot really beat the value either. For less than a hundred bucks, you get a high-quality dive light, two batteries, a charger, a wrist strap, a stainless steel clip, a “hands free” flash light glove and extra O-rings. And all this comes in a nice little case to keep it all together. The light itself is more than adequate for lighting up crevasses, holes, and caves, and even lighting up something of interest to show your dive buddy in bright conditions. It has a spotlight beam, but still lights up a good size area, and it seems to have the right glow for underwater.I use the included wrist strap and the glove. I find having the light on the back of my hand makes it readily available but does not mean that I must constantly hold on to the light. One issue I did have was that the light would slip out of the glove occasionally, yet still be secured with the wrist strap, while doing a giant stride entry or a shore entry into rough surf. This was an easy fix. What I did was I attached a zip tie to the rear end of the light, secured it tight and clipped off the excess. (I included a photo for reference). I have yet to have the light slip out of the flash light glove after putting on the zip tie.I sometimes forget to charge the light before each dive and have yet to have the light die on me during a dive and I am constantly using the light during the dive. I do, however, always have the extra battery with me, fully charged, just in case I need to swap it out during a dive interval.I have had the light down to around 115 feet many times with no issues. I have not yet needed to use any of the four spare 0-rings that come with the light. The light seems to be very watertight and durable.I like that it has a push button switch on the end of the light. Unlike other lights I have used in the past with slide switches, switches on the side and twist type switches, I have not had a problem with accidentally having the light get turned on or off. This is also much easier to turn on and off with gloves on as well.I feel that this dive light is a great value and would even recommend getting an extra one if you are looking for a back-up. (One nice thing of having two identical lights is that the batteries and accessories are interchangeable).Bottom line is that I am incredibly happy with my purchase and am happy to recommend this light to others. You can not beat the value.

Great torchlight. The reviews are accurate and true.
Produces good strong beam, which is the key performance requirement of any good torch. The accessories included with it are useful and appreciated. Good value for money product.

Great Light for a Primary or Secondary!
The Orcatorch D550 package (see first picture) is that you are getting a well made bomber dive light that comes in a carrying case which includes rechargeable batteries with charger, replacement o-rings, swivel bolt snap and a hand strap. The D550 light is similar to other Orcatorch brand lights (solid construction, shrugs off abuse, easy to use)This dive light has two different modes which work great for night diving (max depth on multiple tests was 110 ft.), if it gets murky (lots of particulate) I found switching to the second mode (without the center beam) reduces any glare or light "bouncing" back. Having a dive light with different modes is an absolute must and for sub-$100 you can't beat the D550.I will add video from the night dives La Jolla Shores, San DiegoPRO/CON:If I were forced to make a complaint: I would direct it towards the that the hand strap. My hands are XL and I dive in cold water using a 5mm glove (size XL aqualung). Hands naked the strap fits fine (see added pictures). However, with the 5mm glove, I cannot get the strap to close/secure. I did have some other friends try the light strap and if your gloves are 5mm M/L it will fit fine. Note that the swivel bolt snap is meant to connect to the hand strap. However, I would recommend tightening the supplied cord around your wrist (its better to have two points of contact (gear ain't cheap); so you don't see your light swim away if one point fails). As shown in Picture #1

I absolutely love this light!!!
I have been diving since 1995 and I can honestly say that I love the OrcaTorch D550 dive light!!!As a divemaster I have used/owned many different dive lights since I began diving and this one is the best that I have used and is by far my favorite. It is rugged, light weight, unobtrusive (though not too small in the hand), very bright, and super easy to operate via the magnetic push-to-activate tail switch even with gloves on.Pros:+The anodized aluminum body of the torch is well finished and presents an appearance of very good quality.+There is nothing mechanical inside the torch to fail as it controlled by a solid state circuit board mounted in the tail end of the unit and controlled by a magnetic push button switch that does not penetrate the double o-ring sealed compartment.+Runs on 1 x 18650 battery....the kit comes with 2 and a charger.+Long run time on single battery charge - I have done multiple dives in one day/evening with this light each exceeding 1hr with no loss of brightness experienced (even at temps down to 40F/5C). I have yet to have the light cut out on me while on a dive.+Powerful beam that cuts through dark and murky water - we do a lot of lake and quarry diving that often has very poor visibility...this light cuts through the silt which significantly helps with underwater navigation.+Comes with a pair of extra o-rings.+Comes with a soft glove type goodman handle mount.+OrcaTorch even threw in a small bolt snap to attach to the tail of the light.Cons:- None!!! - I can't think of anything about this light that I don't like. The glove mount is easy to put on and take off. Although I had a concern that it might be possible for the torch to slip out of it, that has not happened. But to alleviate that concern/possibility, I put a stainless steel split-ring (key-ring) on the little loop/tab of the glove mount and I clip the included bolt snap (tied to the end of the light), to the ring...works great, no worries of dropping/losing the light, and looks like it came from the factory that way.I like this light so much that I have purchased a 2nd one for myself and one for my wife as well.I would recommend the OrcaTorch D550 to anyone who is contemplating buying a dive light. Great quality product at a good price compared to similar lights sold in dive shops.

Great value for this diving light or backup light.
I have used this dive light for a few months now. Using it primarily as a back up light and also using it as a focus light for my camera sometimes. As a tech diver and cave diver, most of the back up lights we use are large and heavy delrin 3 C-cell flashlights that last a long time but the intensity of the light and lumens are not quite bright enough. The Orcatorch D550 is a great value being at under $100 offering great intensity. Some of the things I liked about the light was that it came with a small bolt snap and had a good attachment point so you can tie off the bolt snap with some cave light (DIR style). It's very easy to use with a simple push button at the rear of the flashlight. It is a bit sensitive, so sometimes I do use the "lock out mode" with the rotating bezel to prevent it from accidentally turning on. This works very well if you are attaching it to your front D-rings as in a DIR configuration. The beam of the light is a narrow and focused tight beam as you can see in my pictures. It's great for signaling your dive buddy during a dive with low visibility or a night dive. There is some spill over and a nice wide corona that provides you with a wide area of clean white light. For it's price point, the number of lumens and brightness are incomparable. There are brighter lights out there, but they are going to cost around $200 or more. The light fit s well in my large sized hands and was easy to hold. The body is CNC aluminum and machined brass. It seemed well balanced and was rather light weight. I also like the nice case that the light came with and good quality charger it came with. Having two batteries is a very nice feature as most other dive light companies only give you on battery. The light also has triple O-rings for peace of mind. I have taken it on numerous tech dives to 51m+ and have no issues with it. I would keep the light in "lock out mode" to prevent the water pressure for accidentally turning on the pressure switch though. There are a few things I would change though. I wish the bolt snap was a little big higher quality. The springs seemed a bit gritty and weak on the bolt snap that came with the light. I am not a fan of the soft Goodman handle for the light, but some recreational divers using this as their primary light might like it. I did not use the lanyard that came in the box.Overall, I have used this light on all sorts of dives from tech dives, night dives and day time dives with bad visibility. No problems with brightness all of these dives and the nice and focused beam make it great for use as a focus light, primary light for searching for underwater critters to signaling for your buddy. Definitely would recommend this light or any Orcatorch product.
