Four: A Divergent Collection

An excellent side story
Although Four's perspective and back story was interesting to hear, I'm not sure it added anything to the story. I would suggest reading it either between book 1 and 2, or 2 and 3. There are characters that are in the second and third book that are introduced in Four's stories but I'm not sure yet if it's essential for us to meet them before the main series. The writing style as always is fantastic and engaging and the insights into known characters was interesting.

I couldn't cope with another book like that, but I enjoyed Divergent enough to want ...
Reading this absolutely ruined Four for me. I didn't read Allegiant, as I found that by the end of Insurgent, I was unable to tell Tris and Four apart when they spoke, they just seemed to merge into one singular angsty character that was infuriating to read. I couldn't cope with another book like that, but I enjoyed Divergent enough to want to go back and see Four's perspective. Whilst it was interesting, I found the character to just be shockingly off. Instead of being this smart, prepared guy, aware of his surroundings he came across as a silly boy, making rooky mistakes and delivering really corny lines. Quite gutted that Veronica Roth couldn't do Four justice, as he was a great character.

Waste of money
Has anybody who wrote a review actually read this book, I have my droughts that the author actually wrote this or if the publisher put her under pressure to complete a follow up book, this is like reading a review of the books and leaves you thinking why? I have already the series do I need to tust take bits but then into a book again that I Already know. I am sure this is about making money on the back of something wonderful and in destroys a very good writer by saying do I trust you and do I want to buy and trust anything published in your name.John Prime Customer

A must for divergent followers
Brilliant book! It is written from Four's perspective before he meets Tris. It also ties in some of the characters that appear in Alliegent which I hope appears on film soon. It explains a lot of things going on behind the scenes and I really enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down! Highly recommend noteworthy is that Four was originally the main character, but Veronica Roth decided to change that and make Tris the lead.

Interesting alternative perspective on Divergent
It's nice to see a story re-told (partly, at any rate) from the point of view of another of the main characters. Divergent and Insurgent are both told exclusively from Tris's point of view, and although we hear from Four in parts of Allegiant, that's at the end of the trilogy. Here, we find out more about Four's background, how he came to join Dauntless, and what he really thought of Tris and her friends when he first met them.

The making of Four.
A good book to understand the background of where Four came from and the relationship between him and Eric. Not a strong character naturally but someone who learnt to mask his fears rather than overcome them like Tris. They make a good couple once they start to fully understand each other.

Interesting
I'm glad that I read the Divergent books before as it made me more aware who Four is. I would recommend reading these books after reading the other three books .

If you loved Divergent, you love this
I really enjoyed the three books in the Divergent trilogy and it was great to revisit some of the storylines from Four's perspective and to also gain an insight into his transfer into Dauntless.Seeing things from Four's point of view made me appreciate some of the story lines in Divergent and why some of the conversations went as they did.
