Worth it for collector's of obscure 80's cinema...
Obscure sci-fi opus from the end of the Empire Pictures (which would somewhat become Full Moon later). Of all their films; I'd rank this one at the bottom (yes - even "Creepozoids" and "The Eliminators" are better choices). There is a quite a bit of gore toward the end... but the film itself is a silly allegory for the Aids virus. The music score is bigger than the picture itself; and pacing is all over the place. The transfer here is quite good, however.Worth picking up the Blu Ray for a great making of; in which the director comes off as complaining about the only things that made this picture palatable (like the few nude sequences and cheesy effects). It's interesting to see folks publicly biting the hand that has fed them; even if what they are saying is true.

“EVIL.....is here!”
Space. A funny thing happened on the way to nowhere. Would-be actor Rex Smith (as Wolfgang Shadduck) is unduly mesmerized by a stowaway and left diseased, a wanton sex addict turned killer. He crashes his super duper space ship on a prison planet that doubles as a mining colony. He heals quickly and heads for the local bar (apparently, you get better service in prison). Indiscriminate sex follows; he leaves a trail of bodies and boils behind him. The local priest (the incomparable Patrick Macnee as Father Christopher) has a suspicion this has all happened before.......to him, at his last place of worship. He makes dire warnings but no one listens and several live to regret it. Meanwhile, a trio of prisoners are planning to escape in Wolfgang’s space ship. There’s also a doctor of sorts (Lisa Langlois as Miranda), practicing medicine without a license or an education! She is instantly smitten with Wolfgang (he’s the only one on the planet who isn’t a felon! Any port in a storm!). She wants to go with him when he leaves. Ah, true love.....right up to the point she turns a flamethrower on him! Fickle. This is one of those dreadful movies you have to see to believe. Whether or not you can appreciate this level of crap is another matter entirely. I found it unintentionally hilarious. The production values are severely limited to what they had on hand. The FX almost conveys the illusion of space (vacuum if nothing else!). The editing is abrupt and ragged. The acting is artificial. People yell, immediately calm down, yell some more. They emote like there’s no tomorrow. Perennial bad guy Christopher Neame is particularly good at overdoing it. The level of ineptitude involved is remarkable.

only REX SMITH fans will appreciate.
My daughter ordered this movie for me because I am a big Rex Smith fan. If I wasn't a fan of his I don't think I could have watched this movie. Very low budget movie but I just wanted to see gorgeous Rex in this movie. Added it to my Rex Smith collection.

Fooled me again
As an avid fan of over the top cult sci fi and horror films from the 80's, I was very excited to hear of one that I'd never seen before getting a long overdue release on DVD. Unfortunately, this one should have stayed buried as it's definitely not worth the 90 minutes you will never get back after watching it. The film makers couldn't seem to decide if they wanted to make an Alien ripoff or a soft core Cinemax after dark flick. Good for 80's nostalgia only.

Campy Science Fiction at it's best
This movie was released in 1991 on a bargain label (Starmaker) and was recorded in the EP mode. John Wolf (Rex Smith), a space smuggler, is raped by an alien in his sleep. His ship crash lands on a prison mining colony on some distant planet where he meets a nurse (Lisa Langlois) and they fall in love. Wolf has a couple of problems to deal with: a trio of prisoners plan to steal his ship to escape the penal colony. Another problem every time he feels horny he begins to slowly transform into a boil-ridden monster. Each time he gets an erection it gets worse and it begins to put a cramp on his relationship with the nurse. To satisfy his animalistic urges he begins screwing the female prisoners (killing one of them) which causes his disease to spread. The prison's priest (Patrick Macnee) has seen this happen 26 years before on another planet. He believes the female alien is a Succubus, sent by the Devil to spread his evil and destroy mankind. With the help of Wolf he plans to stop the spread of the plague. This also means they have to stop the trio of prisoners from escaping so the plague doesn't infect another planet. The film is unrated.
