I purchased at a discount as it was an item someone had previously returned.I think the key is to add just a bit of tension on your yarn as you wind. Initially tried with zero tension and the yarn slid out of the guide and wrapped around the base.This made fast work of some of those "O go" format yarns from red heart.Great product. Great value.

This is great for making small yarn balls. I am unsure if it would hold a full skein, but it is perfect for balling used skeins. I find it best to use a glove and gold the yarn tightly to make a tighter ball that isn't loose.

Was super easy to us and to wind up all my lose yarn. This one does small yarn cakes. May have to get one for my larger skeins of yarn.

This is so a game changer. I love it and it's so easy to use .

This yarn winder allowed me to clean up all my yarn scraps neatly. I was able to put it together on my desk quickly and started winding. I’ve made gorgeous yarn “skeins” that are ombre colored with old scraps. Best purchase and excellent price. I made sure I shopped around and got exactly what I wanted and needed. Thank you.

The assembly sup ridiculously easy. It is worth the money, but is accurately priced. The quality is okay. The plastic is thin and the clamp isn't all that stable. It does what it's supposed to though, and I have had an easier time storing my yarn in cakes rather than balls and skeins.

It is good for a beginner like me. I found it super easy to use, but I had to attach REALLY HARD on the table as it kept slipping off it. However, it is good and doesn't make a lot of noise. I approve!

This is a good yarn cake maker. It can make little or big yarn cakes. However, when attaching it to a counter, make sure the counter or whatever you attaching it to, does not have a lip. Also be careful how thick the table is, it will not stay in place, moves around. You definitely need a sturdy table or chair ( as I used). If winding too fast then top spool falls off, I had to tape spool in place at the groves in order for the spool to stay as I winding the yarn into cake. Overall it does the job. Cute little yarn cake winder.
