Excellent craftmanship
The design of this tool is wonderful. I purchased this as a present for my husband, and he was so impressed with the color and quality. He has spent hours looking at all of the different gadgets and how expertly it is made.

Black features plus scales
I have two of these SwissChamp models: one in my backpack and one in the car. One nearly always comes with me wherever I go. This time I ordered the black scales, which arrived yesterday. I’m mainly writing this review to affirm that the model with black scales is in fact the “plus” model, meaning it has the extra slot for the pen, which it comes with. Additionally, it also has the mini screwdriver “screwed” into the corkscrew as well as the pin, which rests inserted inside the scale behind the corkscrew. The plus model is the only way to go with these knives. I have been using some of my Victorinox Swiss Army knives for almost 25 years. The SwissChamp is bulky, but nice to have nearby. I prefer either the Compact, Climber, or Mountaineer models for everyday carry in my pocket, although the Ranger, although quite larger, is one that often goes places with me. Also, all Victorinox Swiss Army Knives can be outfitted with plus scales and fully accessorized. There is even a way to carry a neodymium magnet, which fits alongside the can opener. The hook gets a lot of criticism, however I have found it most useful to “click” the pen in place so the knife acts as writing utensil that one can actually grip. These are just a few ideas - see the literally hundreds of YouTube videos on customization and use. SwissChamp = highly recommended.

Only brand to have
I have had several of these. This model, I have found is the best. It is a little bulky/heavy, but I wouldn't want to give up even one of its tools. The scissors are the greatest. The Philips screw driver that comes straight out is the only way to go. The magnifying glass is strong. The pliers while small are tough and work well. The pen is cool and when you are stuck without a pen or pencil, it comes in handy. I have never had a pen's ink dry up or run out. The straight pin is very useful for removing splinters. The tiny screwdriver is great for tightening glasses screws. The file, fine and coarse is great, sturdy, stays sharp. I LOVE the saw. It is Sooo sharp and stays that way. Branch in your way? No problem, no need to go get a saw. The most versatile tool is the main screwdriver/bottle opener/pry bar. All the other tools, can opener, fish scaler/hook remover, needle/awl and a few others are handy when/if you need them. Oh yeah, two knife blades, they are handy to have on a knife

Amazing. Would rate 10/10.
Swiss army knives are always high quality highly functional small multi tools but the Swiss champ is the king of Swiss army knives. For such a small tool (compared to Leatherman style multi tools) there's an amazing amount of versatility here. The red is iconic but I actually prefer the black. Easy to use also can't say enough good things about these things.

awesome what's not to like!
It's a swiss army knife enough said! It has a lot of tools, pliers and scissors are my favorite. The file is a file not a bumpy piece of metal. The scissors are sharp, both blades are hair shavers out the box, the wood saw cuts well. The pliers are great and do not bend as long as you don't try to use them on something huge. All the tools lock in and have no play in them. It is a little hard to get some of them open but it should loosen up over time with use. Great tool to bring everywhere.

Never be without it
This knife is perfect for everyday use. It is flawlessly constructed and you can wrap your hand around it good to use it. For what you may ask? Let me give you a few examples:The wood saw and metal saw are sharp and work quite well. I cut a wood frame to size using nothing but these tools. The little pliers are a swiss army knife in themselves. I find myself using them for anything from manipulating cotter pins to tightening a small bolt. The magnifying glass is quite handy when trying to use the tweezers to pull that splinter out of your hand. Be aware that unlike the picture shows, it is no longer encased in that gray plastic. It's now made of one clear plastic piece, the lens is bigger, and an improvement in my opinion; although the classy look of the piece is lost. Traditionalists may frown upon this change.Needless to say the blades are both very sharp. Try to use the big blade for the tough jobs and the little one for the precision, scalpel-sharp jobs. The scissors are another swiss army knife of their own. Use them to groom your nails in conjunction with the file/saw (also to get rid of those pesky hangnails) or to strip wire (use the rear part of the blades for the tough jobs and the tip for precision). The ruler and the pen come quite handy when more practical counterparts are not within reach.Dropped your fork? Not a problem; simply pull out the ruler and use the tip (disgorger) as a mini fork. I wouldn't recommend using the descaler as such as it will make a smelly mess of your knife. The philips screwdriver seems to be the right size for any screw out there but if you run into a really small one, simply unscrew the mini screwdriver in the cork opener. The latter one also works quite well when due to impairment you misplace your bottle opener. The body of the knife provides adequate handle for this tool.In short supply of a razor blade to clean goo off a window? Pull the chisel out and get the job done (although it may take a while). The leather puncher (looks like a small potato peeler, and can be used like one too) can also be used on plastic, thin sheetmetal and other soft materials to make rather neat holes (belt too tight? make a new hole and breathe better).I could go on and on but the point is, this knife is as smart as you are. You can find uses for every single one of its tools every day. Get the pouch, it will stay in better shape and within easy reach when you need it. Terrific price from Amazon too. Enjoy!
