Q: how much seed does it hold?

I bought his feeder for a friend of mine and he uses it! Just judging from the size of the tray, I would say it takes up to 2 - 3 cups of bird seed. KC

Q: Do the birds feet touch the metal strip and does the metal get hot? Our window gets direct sun all day. I don't want to burn/hurt the bird's feet.

We get direct sunlight on the feeder until 1 pm. The birds' feet don't really contact the metal strip, they stand on top of the perch and the metal is on the front of the perch. You will find that many birds sit in the feeder like it is a nest. The mourning doves stand on the window sill and lean up against the metal strip. Squirrels have no problem with the metal strip either. Our window sill is red brick and does get warm, but that doesn't bother them either.

Q: Does this work from a third-floor window?

Yes, you can place it wherever you want as long as there is a glass. It’s very convenient that the seed tray lifts out for easy refilling/cleaning inside of the house. The other cool thing is that you can remove the feeder from the window and refill and only the suction cups stay on the window if there would be a risk of dropping the tray.

Q: Can you reuse the suction cups

The suction cups are a pliable plastic that can be removed and replaced at any time. They can be used over and over again.
