Every song is great, and even if you don't dance - ever! - you can't help but do so when listening to it. Genius!
Almost 30 years later, English Beat's 'Special Beat Service' still sounds great. Having lost my original album, I just recently added it to my collection, and I'm so glad I did. While they were an 80's band, the music is timeless. 'End of the Party' still makes me smile, crookedly no less, as I think of an old boyfriend. I love these tunes!
The music is amazing, and the tunes take me back to the 80's when I owned the cassette! I love the English Beat! If you get a chance to see them live, you will hear that they still sound just like this!

Great album with great sound
Just saw Dave and the new English Beat members a bit ago. They put on a fantastic show and sent me searching for the original band's back catalog. This sounds better than the cassette tape I had as a kid and kept me pogoing all night.

Hello, I did receive my order and rather quickly too. I have been playing this cd constantly while driving back and forth to school since I got it and it plays beautifully! I bought the LP when it was released, but have since sold it. It was wonderful to hear these songs again. I just kept playing the CD again and again. It makes me wonder why The Beat don't have the same recognition as other bands of that era? And why don't mainstream bands write political songs anymore? I'd buy The Beat version of "Stand down Boris".

My reason for getting this album was so I could listen to the instrumental of March of the Swivel Heads, which is a bonus track on this album, and also featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I also enjoyed the other tracks on this album

The Beat, 通称The English Beatは、80年代New Waveの始まりのグループです。スカ系とジャンル分けされてますが、音楽を聞いていただければ違うと感じると思います。 2nd British Invasionと呼ばれたUK New Waveは、70年代後半にパンクに疲れたバンドがメッセージ性をこめてファッションにもこだわっておしゃれに先進性を求めて始まりました。New Waveのメッセージ性と暗さ、哀愁性にもだんだん疲れて、ポップス調のNew Romantics, ディスコ系のEuro Beatが始まりました。 The English Beat (とあえて呼ばせていただきます）も、音楽性から83年に解散して、General Publicのように派生していき、General PublicのTendernessという曲のようにNew Romantics系統になりました。 UK New Waveの始まりなので、80年代音楽に興味のあるかたは、押さえておく必要があるバンドであり、購入していかがでしょうか。
