This is a good intro to Jung, but approach with caution.
Jung's work has changed, shaped and transformed my adult development. He has countless works to study but this was my first one. I have taken it extremely seriously, especially when doing Anima and Shadow-work. I do NOT recommend you engage with this material if you don't have a steady grasp of your own psyche (work with a therapist/container). Applying Jung is the equivalent of performing surgery on your mind - it can go very wrong if you don't know what you're doing. However, if you approach his work with the reverence and respect it deserves, it will not only change your understanding of your Self, but of consciousness, history, mythology, theology, and humanity at large. It's incredibly powerful stuff and this volume is just scratching the surface. As far as print-quality goes - it's excellent. Worth the price.

Tremendous! Tell the world!
This is a wonderful book that is definitely an all time favourite of mine. I recommend you buy a copy and chew on it yourself! This is an under-statement but Jung is an important thinker and his ideas are very enthralling.

Perhaps not for beginners
I've read about a quarter of this book so far, some intriguing points have been brought up and I can't wait to be able to finish it. However this is only the second psychology book I've read and I'm having trouble grasping 'the bigger picture'. I feel like I'm constantly waiting for a 'summary' of points, or perhaps I'd be better off with some accompanying text to explain most of what's be talked about.I do however feel this is mainly due to the fact that I'm new to the language/tone of psychology generally and new to Jung so if you're a beginner like myself then I'd recommend something a bit more introductory first, as I'm going to save it until I've read a little bit more around the subject.I'm currently reading 'Man and his Symbols'.

Fascinating
I bought this book as I was always interested in Jung and had read some of his works years ago.It is not a general introduction but I found it very readable and fascinating. I see Jung as much asa visionary as a psychologist/psychiatrist and his reasoning that we cannot live without reference toour collective past makes complete sense. His archetypes are fascinating and he explains that these symbols or motifs recurred again and again withdifferent patients of varying experience and learning. From this he posits that they are not simply constructedby the psyche but are independent of it and inhabit a collective unconscious. For all his learning what comes out of the pages is his deep humanity.A book to own and re-read.

A giant of the 20th century
With his concept and direct experience of the sub-conscious Shadow, Jung put into words a masterpiece of understanding about what is happening within the psyche of each and every person. If you can take the time to properly digest this lengthy and sometimes dense text, you'll be wiser and more informed than ever before about how your psyche operates. Whether you can confront and integrate your own Shadow after that is another matter.Ex-Seeker

Eye-opener
Beautifully written although a tad too convoluted some times. With each other book I'm reading on the subject, the concepts presented herein become more and more clear and reveal more of their fascinating depths and connections.More than often I find mind myself going back to Jung's collection and reading again through the mark-ups.
