Lang Tools 379 Small Engine Valve Spring Compressor, Black

Ideal for small Flathead four-stroke engine
Sturdy tool for removing the complete valve spring and container washer ( OD:22,9mm ) as a unit. This eliminates damaging the gasket surface when using a flat screwdriver to lift the washer.Zero flex in the four arms ( complaint of Briggs #19063 ) and the hardened claws will grip the top of the spring and the retaining washer securely. This can then be wiggled out as a unit. The rear rivet is secure and no play in the four arms in the rear of the tool.Found the treads on the two small spreading screws a bit iffy and the overall length of the tool a smidge to long , but all in all - can recommend this tool.CarlCenturion

GARBAGE
It was assembled incorrectly. Had in incorrect prong in one location, ( 3 lefts and 1 right) pretty sad considering it was made in the USA. I was in a pinch and being a welder/metal fabricator I made up a correct prong myself instead of Amazon’s worthless waste of time return procedure. Don’t buy this.

To make the compressing fingers reversible, I had to drill out the rivets and replace with machine screws. Not all jobs will need the fingers turned over, but when you need it, you need it.

Perfect for flathead car/truck engines
If you are removing/replacing valves on a flathead engine for a car or truck these work well for that. These are cheap, plenty sturdy, and the antique set that was made for these engines are harder to find and much more expensive. You spread these open to compress the springs on a flathead rather than squeezing them closed like with a c-clamp style set
