Well made.
These have been my go-to strings since purchasing my violin. Quick break in and they keep their tone and very well. Price point really can’t be matched.

Good quality sound for cheap prices - slightly bulky winding at the tailpiece.
I wanted to give this a 4.5! I got a set of strings for an antique Stainer fiddle that I was setting up for my son. I played violin myself, up through college and then taught elementary strings while in graduate school, and played the fiddle for fun. I’ve changed quite a few strings. I’ve paid a lot for some good synthetic strings too. These are quite good. However, I broke two strings when installing them, despite the usual caution, the use of pencil lead for the bridge and the peg box. Part of the problem is that the fine tuners on my instrument aren’t really designed for ball tipped strings. The thread winding is so tight, I had a hard time fitting the string into the tuner grooves. So, I broke the A at the tuner, the E I broke at the peg. So, I replaced them with D’Addario Ascents. Their winding was also a tight fit, but a little better. It seems that the only loop end strings are the steel ones, and I really didn’t want those. I may eventually replace the tail piece with one that will accommodate ball tip strings better. My own violin only has a fine tuner on the E string, but for a kid, I figure that the fine tuners are helpful, at least for the teacher! So, I cannot speak for the upper two strings, but the lower ones sound good, and make the instrument sound clear and warm. They only took a day or two to settle into pitch and they made an inexpensive instrument sound as good as my nice violin. But if you need to use them with tuners that have narrow metal slots, these are hard to fit. This isn’t really a critique of the string, but more of a practical detail to consider.

High Quality, Low(ish) Price
My daughter's new, expensive violin needed its strings replaced. Her instructor and her conductor agreed that steel strings are a bit harsh for orchestral performances and gut strings are generally too high maintenance and expensive; both recommended synthetic core strings. So, I did my research (lots of research) on violin strings, and found that there are lots of options and even more opinions! Fiddlerman claims that professional players are unable to distinguish their strings from the hands-down most popular synthetic core brand which cost nearly double their strings. I decided to give them a try based on the reviews here on Amazon and also on several internet violin forums. The new strings are definitely a noticeable upgrade! We could both hear the difference immediately, and she tells me that the strings feel better, too. I expect a few more members of her Youth Symphony will be ordering soon after hearing how much better she sounds for such an inexpensive set of strings. We generally replace her strings a few weeks prior to each orchestra season, so I hope they hold up a full year.4-Month UPDATE 12/4: The strings have held up quite well. Both my daughter's private teacher and the orchestra conductor have asked her about her stings, apparently they are impressed with the sound quality. She switched her rosin to the Jade brand, because we felt it has a bit more 'grab" and a cleaner tone. As a person who is not a musician, I am pleasantly surprised with the difference that good strings made in her sound quality.
