FLEXCUT Carving Tools

I ain't a noobie, just adding needed profiles to my other Flexcuts. I smiled when I opened the very nice wooden box, then I guffawed when seeing the bright yellow dispenser containing Band-Aids. What a brilliant marketing ploy to get a safety point across! Trust me if you're new, they are sharp and can bite you if you're not paying attention. I've worn my fair share of Band-Aids over the years. But these Flexfits are the real deal, sharp, good looking and well made. To top it off Flexcut can be depended on for quality and first rate customer service. Yes, recommended! Though labeled as "beginner", the steel, materials and workmanship quality remains the same through the Flexcut offerings. Killing 2 birds with one stone (in one review) last week I also ordered the M390, 3 mm mixed profile set. Accolades remain the same. Enjoy! .

These are nice little chisels. You need to practice to get good results, but once you get the hang of holding them in the palm, they are really nice. My only complaint is that the box is cheap. I get that most people throw away the box. But, they fit so nicely inside, I just wish that it was a bit more robust.

Love all Flexcut tools! They come razor sharp and last a long time. Any time a new woodcarver asks what kind of knife they should get, you'll always see Flexcut recommendations.

These tools are high quality, and they're very sharp. They're a must buy if you want to do intricate cuts.

It's got everything you need for small stuff, and a great beginner set. My only gripe is that it does not come with a strop. The main reason for this is that once I started using it and decided I liked the palm tools enough not to return the item, I now have to wait another week for the strop to be delivered. They fit well in the hand, and it's a good price for a set. I've used it for a few hours and haven't had any hand cramps, so from my experience, I'd say they have good ergonomics.

As with all Flexcut tools they come extremely sharp and work great. I must have for wood carvers

I wont give this a 5 star only because I am new to the hobby and don't know if there are better tools out there for the money. Now that said the research I did showed these to be highly regarded American made products, and to substantiate that I have no qualms about them. I use all the tools in the kit, and am learning how to use them and how they carve. My kids also use these tools and we are all in agreement that for carving the wood spirits they are by far superior than just a knife. I have gotten good detail using them, especially for hair using the v tool. I have not sharpened them yet, tho they may need to be sharpened now. Out of the box they were razor sharp and I cut myself (cute gimmick, they ship with a band aid with the company name on it). It would be nice if they came with some instructions on techniques to hold them and a description of how they cut, and how to sharpen them. As its on the job learning for me, but tht is part of the fun, right? Including a strope for those size and shape tools in the box would have been nice too. The little wooden box came with a piece broken, but I glued it back together. The box is a great thing to keep and store them. I am very happy with them and think they will be a good foundation kit to build on once I learn how to use them better and figure out what additional sizes and shape tools I want in the future (if any). I am VERY HAPPY with them and recommend them to any beginner, especially someone looking to do kind of small carving of wood spirits (Im carving faces that are aprox 2 inches by 4 inches).

Bought this set as a gift for our son - he loves it! Very good quality, very sharp, great for his woodworking skills and looking forward to seeing what he'll be making with it. He currently lives in a bender and loves working with wood, so this made an ideal present.

Great gouges. Very sharp and fit nicely in the palm. Also come in a nice wooden box. I recommend these for linocutting.
