Low Earth Orbit Satellite Design (Space Technology Library, 36)

Superb Resource for Those Wanting a Practical Yet Detailed LEO Satellite Design Guide
Excellent book! Well written and jam packed full of very current technologies and their implementation in industry. Covers everything from mission analysis and design through to detailed subsystem design highlights with plenty of references listed to take a deeper dive if desired. Great for those who wish to catch up on the latest small satellite technolgy and design strategies or who wish to get a great overview of the satellite design process in general. Most books on this subject are fairly outdated at this point (written in the early 2000’s), but this one was published in 2018 and includes the latest trends and techniques. I will be using this as a reference for some time to come!I highly recommend this book!

Introduction.
Informative introduction. Could have included more detailed information on sat comms.

Patchy
Inconsistent coverage of the topics. The orbit section has a lot of details. Other sections have only the most superficial coverage, such as the on-board computer section. Other sections assume a significant level of background knowledge - acronyms and jargon are frequently used without defining them, and the RF section basically requires you to be an RF expert to understand it.Fails as an introduction/overview for those reasons.Fails as an advanced book due to lack of depth. If you just want to figure out the best orbit, consider buying it. Otherwise avoid.
