Great pigment for drawing worth the value! Very buttery when using the charcoal. Would suggest smudging with your finger for more pigment on your canvas. Also packaging was very nice nothing was broken.

L'effet est génial ! Juste assez gras pour voir instantanément la lumière produite sur le fusain. Une bonne opaticité : Le pastel blanc est vraiment parfait pour créer des gris avec le fusain rapidement et des textures qui ressemblent étrangement à l'aquarelle lorsqu'elle sont mélangées ... ça fond littéralement, comme neige au soleil ! Great product for the price. A good value for pastel artists. I mostly use white to lighten intense colors which pastels be it pan or sticks tend to come in. That's also a good value. However, if one wants to lighten these intense colors, white will be needed and these Derwent's fit the bill. They are not as soft as the softest pastel nor the hardest of the hard. In-between.

Pastel sets come with one white, and one is never enough, because this is the color you use to lighten and blend and highlight. I do lots of my blog fiction and poetry illustrations with charcoals and pastels, and a set of good quality white chalks was a thing I really needed to find. These are truly soft and don't scratch with those weird hard edges some pastels have.
