The Upside of Falling: A Fun and Flirty Teen Romance

A comforting must read.
This book is such a feel good escape. Apart from all of the relatable events that took place in this book, it showed how facing things that we are afraid to can have a good outcome. Becca and Bretts friendship and relationship showed how we can find a feeling of hominess in a person. I recommend this book if you love watching rom-coms such as "To all the boy's I've loved before".

page turner! great quick read.
Such a good story. I really enjoyed the characters. I loved the multiple complex battles going on and following along as both characters developed and navigated through tough situations. My reason for dropping that 5th star is that there wasn’t more of a resolution for what happened with her parents divorce. I felt like there could’ve been more there. I’m left feeling a little empty and wondering.I also wouldn’t have minded an epilogue for a sneak peek into their story down the road. How did his parents wind up? How did the mom wind up? What about her rekindled friendship?Maybe a second book? I would absolutely read it.

Most heartfelt
This was actually one of the best books I have ever read. There was so many scenes in it that I related to. I 100% wish I read this when my parents got divorced 2 1\2 years ago. It is such a heartfelt and touching romance book that I couldn't put down. I literally spent all dah reading it. 5 stars for sure!! 💗💗

You can definitely tell this is Wattpad
When I first saw this book I didn’t expect much from it. I figured it was going to be a cute, light read not an intense romance type book that I’m used to reading. But this book was still pretty entertaining and definitely had potential but you can tell that this is a Wattpad book just by the writing. You have to read it to really understand what I’m talking about but there was barely any character descriptions like at all, how the author went with their background stories was weird like every aspect of the book it was brought up unnecessarily but there was no resolutions or any character development or growth. Like for example Beca’s dad left her and her mom when she was young and throughout the book all she complained about was how her mom never talks about it and how she wants an explanation but it never happened like you would think it would…I mean the author brought it up so many times you’d think we’d get to a point where she sits down with her mom and talks about it but no. Also she found out that her dad started a new family and he literally lives down the street (which is pretty sad) and for the past couple of years she just walks to his house and watches him pull into the driveway from work and his new wife greet him…well some point in the book she just marches to his door and the wife invites her in (knowing she’s his daughter) they previously had an encounter sometime before that btw anyways she goes to his house and basically ends up just telling him she forgives him and stuff and she doesn’t want his apology or him in her life. Beca did that to “move on” I guess but she didn’t even get an explanation of why he did what he did even though he wanted to tell her. In my opinion she should have let him, I didn’t expect her to forgive him but it would have been nice and added something good to the book if she did. It just made all the complaining, questions, and back and forth dialogue about it in her head seem all for nothing. Now let’s move on to Brett this really bothered me lol…basically Brett’s family is supposed to be this rich perfect family but spoiler alert they’re not. In the book you can definitely tell something is off especially with the mother she’s always so emotional and down about something especially when it comes to the dads work. The dad is always going on these long work trips but turns out they weren’t all work trips Brett while with beca ends up catching his dad having an affair (he was just at dinner with another women) but you get it and after some useless investigations that him and beca did he finally just confronts him after seeing his dad with her again at this big party for his dads hotel. Turns out the mom already knew for a couple of months and Brett ends up kicking the dad out of the house. They go to some family therapy sessions and obviously the dad is saying he’s sorry but he’s only sorry he got caught, anyways later the mom says she wants the dad back and Brett let’s it and they go on like normal kinda. But this is exactly what I mean by no resolutions like so much of the conflict and drama that went on it the book was for nothing because they were never resolved. Now the two characters end up getting together in the end but that was really the only good part. I feel as if I wasted my time with this book and if I could go back i probably wouldn’t purchase it and I won’t be recommending just not worth it in my opinion. It definitely has potential like I said before if another author were to pick up this book and rewrite it but intensify the romance, the overall storyline, and characters this would be a great book but for now it’s a no for me.

cute YA read
A fun, flirty teen debut from Wattpad phenom Alex Light about a fake relationship and real love. It’s been years since seventeen-year-old Becca Hart believed in true love. But when her former best friend teases her for not having had a boyfriend, Becca impulsively pretends she’s been secretly seeing someone.Brett Wells has it all. As captain of the football team and one of the most popular guys in his school, he should have no problem finding someone to date, but he’s always been more focused on his future than who to bring to prom. When he overhears Becca’s lie, Brett decides to step in and be the mystery guy. It’s the perfect solution: he gets people off his back for not having a meaningful relationship and she can keep up the ruse that she’s got a boyfriend.Acting like the perfect couple isn’t easy, though, especially when you barely know the other person. But with Becca still picking up the pieces from when her world was blown apart years ago and Brett just barely holding his together now, they begin to realize they have more in common than they ever could have imagined. When the line between what is pretend and what is real begins to blur, they're forced to answer the question: Is this fake romance the realest thing in either of their lives?“It was like, if love couldn’t exist in reality, at least it was alive in fiction. Between the pages it was safe. The heartbreak was contained. There was no aftermath, no shock waves. I mean, there’s a reason all books end right after the couple gets together. No one wants to keep reading long enough to see the happily ever after turn into an unhappily ever after. Right?” This book was a really cute young adult story that started out on Wattpad. I really like the after series that came from there so I decided to try out some more books. I’m really glad I did because I really enjoyed this book. It had me feeling all kinds emotions for these two characters as they navigated through high school gossip and real feelings development while they were “Fake dating”. It showed them go from complete strangers to creating a first love to helping each other through hard times and leaning on one another and pretty much becoming each other’s best friend. “And with all the downsides of love, you managed to show me the upside.”
