Bush Furniture Refinery 50W Industrial Desk in Rustic Gray

This is the second time I've bought this desk and I bought the second one so I could make an 'L' of them. It's nice, clean and sturdy and works perfectly. I gave it a four stars not for the desk but for the state of Customer Service. Going to the website of the manufacturer to the 'Contact Us' page and that did not work. I thought I had an issue with the number of bolts I received and I wished to get 6 short bolts from them. Didn't get any help from the website so I sent the message to the 'Customer Service' email address. That was a week ago and still haven't received a reply to that. I scoured Amazon and found similar short bolts 6M 13 mm size with the 6M standing for the type of thread which is something I learned. Got those in 2 days from Amazon, Yeah Amazon. Went to turn over my desk after screwing in those on the bottom and discovered that I had wrongly used my short bolts attaching the top of the desk from the bottom in error so I unscrewed those which I had screwed in from the bottom and then used the big ones from the top. Dumb me. Operator error but no harm done. And now you won't make that mistake as well.

I am very impressed with my new desk. Honestly, at under $150 I didn't expect much.Starting with the packaging - the packaging was well done, and large packages shipped to Hawaii have a high probability of being damaged, but despite some damage to the box, everything arrived in perfect shape. Once out of the packing materials, the top is very solid and most of the weight of the desk. I notice that all the places you screw into have metal inserts - this is really nice and makes it much easier to assemble (and take apart to fix my errors). The metal legs are also solid - not really at the level of the desktop, but better quality and sturdiness than you'd expect. The assembly went smoothly (hint: the holes on the diagonal piece are asymmetrical, make sure you follow the instructions here!). A sign of real quality appears when you get it assembled - once the screw are tight, this desk is SOLID. The 90kg load rating is an understatement IMO, and exceeding that is hard for a computer and even my biggest monitor.There is a downside - they call this their "industrial" line and frankly, it looks it. What appears to be rough planks is really a very pleasantly textured smooth laminate - I'd love to see this surface in plain colors.Overall, a hearty recommendation for this desk!So I give this desk a very big thumbs up -

This desk is perfect for our current office needs. I’m a teacher and often have to work in the evenings and on the weekend. My rolling office chair with arms just barely fits beneath the desk. It is NOT real wood if that’s what you are looking for. This piece would be much more expensive if it was. I highly doubt anyone would notice it is fake walking into our home. It took 50 minutes to put together... would’ve taken 10 less had we not had the hiccup of putting the diagonal piece on flipped. Instructions were easy and we were not missing any pieces.

This desk is good but I also added the matching return for it. When you attach the return it makes the space where you sit much too small. My office chari with arms would not even fit in the space. Note that the return doesn't attach to the end of the desk, it attaches ot the side of the desk where you sit, making this a very small space. I returned this and ordered the 72" desk which worked out fine. I think this little desk would be ok without the return.

Looks attractive. Easy to assemble. The top is a paper coating so be careful how you take care of the top. For the price I was hoping for a little more coating on top for durability of the top surface. Also I would rather the desk been a few inches longer and a few inches shorter on depth of the top.
