As someone who shot Hoyt recurve bows for over 30 years, I was initially skeptical about trying a compound bow, especially one at the budget-friendly price of the Sanlida Dragon X8. But after reading positive reviews, I decided to give it a shot—and I’m so glad I did!The Dragon X8 far exceeded my expectations. The build quality is impressive, especially considering the $199 price tag. The bow comes with everything you need to start shooting, and all the components are solid and reliable. The sight, for example, performs much better than you’d expect for this price range, holding its own against higher-end models.Even as a complete beginner to compound archery, I was able to shoot with surprising accuracy right out of the box. The bow is smooth, forgiving, and feels great in the hand. It’s the perfect choice for anyone new to compound archery or looking for a quality bow without spending a fortune.To top it off, Sanlida’s customer support is exceptional—quick, helpful, and always ready to answer questions. This bow made me confident enough to eventually upgrade to their Hero 10 II, but I still recommend the Dragon X8 for its unbeatable value and performance.Whether you’re starting out or looking for a budget-friendly option, the Dragon X8 is a fantastic choice. The beauty of this product is that it has everything you need in the box to set it up and get shooting. The price point is also very good for what you get. A lot of reviewers describe this as "entry level" or "beginner" but I happen to think that this diminishes the quality and capability of what you are getting right out of the box. If you are in the market for a compound bow, don't want to spend an arm and a leg, and you are going to be using it for everyday target shooting or hunting, this product is perfectly suitable for those endeavors. Unless you are a competitive archer or such, this should be sufficient for the vast majority of people.The Good:. Price is reasonable. Build quality is good - it doesn't feel like a toy or super cheap. It has everything you need to get loosing off, right out of the boxThe Neutral. Some of the accessories are not necessarily the best but this comes down to personal preference. I ordered the following per my personal needs:- a different arrow rest/whisker biscuit.- 12 extra arrows and some hunting arrow heads.- A range finder to aid with sighting in- A cheap arrow quiver- A 4 finger release to replace the wrist release that it comes with.The Needs Improvement. I didn't think much of the included instructions, and the online instructions were identical with no more detail. You really need to do your own googling and Youtube if you need instructions or a guide to tuning the bow and installing accessories. They do provide instructions on increasing the draw weight and changing the draw length, but that's about it. You're on your own for installing accessories, sighting in the sight, and fine tuning. So be aware, this is not a toy and does require some research for beginners with compound bows or bows generally, or adult supervision for teens/children.Overall I am very satisfied.

It's a good bow for the price. And shoots really well

I love Sanlida products, so don't get me wrong here. This is a GREAT bow.Two Issues, Sanlida:1. The arrows are not appropriate for this bow. The vanes are too long. That's ok, order some new ones. I'll use these for my other Sanlida Traditional bow.2. BUY A NEW RELEASE! While you're buying this bow, go ahead and get a different release. Mine never worked, not ONCE. The jaws will not hold the string even at 40lbs. It's broken.I want to give a higher score, because the bow itself is absolutely awesome. The sight is functional, and the bow itself is fantastic. It was dead easy to get tuned and ready to shoot. Unfortunately, I have not shot it yet since the release is broken. I will hopefully find a good release at my archery store.Or maybe Sanlida will make it right? Guess we will see.Otherwise, this bow is basically what you would get from Bear or PSE for twice the money. Once you tune the bow, I'm sure it's great. It feels just like my Bear Cruzer from years ago.The bow is easy to adjust for any shooter. I'm 6'1 and I have a 30.5 draw length. It's been a while, so I have it set for 45 pounds. It was simple to get set up.Quality bow, not so quality accessories. I'll continue to buy Sanlida bows. But this was a bit of a let down.
